Is'nt Manual at little larger than Highlands. Yea Highlands was beat up but they don't have the numbers to two platoon like the 4A schools can.

I'd guess Manual is closer to HHS than X and T in numbers...

They get kids from other places with a change of address- not a ride like a private school- they don't get kids from other counties or states like the private schools without a move by the parents!!!!!!

I graduated from Manual and unless things have changed, they can accept out of county students so long as they pay some predetermined tuition. I knew people who did this.

 

The number is small, one or two per class, and I don't know of a single instance where these have been athletes.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand this argument. I feel like Manual fans are arguing over how far they are going to get in the playoffs. It doesn't matter if you are out in the first round or the third round you still don't get the ring. I think for Manual fans your energy would be better spent on how your going to WIN state rather than what round you are going to be eliminated.

 

You don't win state just because you make it to the carpet, you still have to beat the X's and T's. A defeatist attitude will never conquer.

Let me restate the arguement. We previously had the toughest road to the championship. The new road is now harder than the last one, because it almost gaurentees that we will have to play the top three programs in the state in a row. At the same time our loss is the rest of the state gain. Now each of the other regions have a reduced thier potential to play one of the top three programs by a single game. WE DON'T LIKE THAT.

 

Does that mean we aren't going to try, of course not. But in the analogy I put before in the other thread, do you think Florida would have won the NCAA if they played Duke, UConn, and Villinova the first three rounds.

 

In the past few years, other than the Big Three, there hasn't been a team in 4A that Manual would consider themselves an underdog to. They are the only team to play the Big Three in regular season competition, so it isn't like we are scared to play them. Manual does what it should be doing, playing the best and improving the program, but in reward the KHSAA has just made our road harder.

Please don't take this the wrong way, I truly do not know the answer and am courious, but when Manual was playing 2 of the "big 3" in the playoffs, how often did Manual win state?

If you buy the argument that the other teams in NKY 4A will get worse because they won't raise the bar now then Manual should win the state pretty soon:)

They haven't. It isn't that anything has been taken away from Manual, we didn't have those wins before. It is about our situation becoming disproportionatly harder. We want to win, that is why we care.

Warren Central

I don't think "worse" is the right word. There was a drive within a few of the programs to get better because of the 500 pound "monkey" waiting in the Region. I just fear that drive might not be as urgent in this format...
