Thanks! Did Jerfferson and the others play today???

Saw him today against Twenhofel (Holmes lost 43-38) and he finished with 19 pts, which was apparently a bad game for him. Kid is very talented. Hits 3's, mid range jumpers, and is very athletic around the rim...BUT, has a serious attitude problem. He has the ability to be a very good player but will have to work on his on court demeanor.

 

As far as his game goes...Holmes' score keeper (who has been at every game) told me that he scored 50 points in one game then turned around and scored 58 in the next game followed by a 25 point game and then a 32 point game. Kid is obviously more physically developed than a lot of kids his age but they were telling me he also hits deep 3's regularly when I asked if he dominated because of his size and strength.

 

Tez Callaway is his name...has a twin brother as well.

 

Those are very impressive numbers, but as I have said another spreads, how does a kid score that many points? Who was their opponent and what was the score of the game? Hard to imagine a seventh grade game being played in the 70s or 80s by both teams, and if it was a blowout, I think you have to factor in The significance of the 50 point scoring performance.

Didn't get in to details on opponents but the 58 point game he scored 58 of 62 points.

Check out the thread regarding upcoming 6th grade football players...Tez - who I thought was in 6th grade, but maybe in 7th according to a poster above - is a remarkable football player as well. Gonna be fun to watch his continued development.

Yea I was told he absolutely destroys kids in football. He is the cousin of former Bulldog Chris Englemon and current Bulldog (younger brother of Chris) Raavai Commodore.

 

And FWIW, he is actually young enough to be a 6th grader but still dominating 7th grade competition. Not a hold back like a lot of these kids we see dominating middle school games.

Highlands 7th grade won the St. Ignatius holiday tourney last night. They were fortunate to survive a quarterfinal game a few weeks ago in tourney vs. Guardian Angels in OT.

Kudos to the PA announcer during tourney - he was very funny and a great kind host to all - especially the players.

Beechwood won the same tournament last year as 6th graders. Looks like NKy will be able to hold their own in a few years across the river. Good job Birds!

Battle of some of the top 8th grade centers in NKY tonight. Issac Salter(HMS) vs Neil Green(St Agnes) tonight. Should be a fun one to watch. Get the popcorn ready.

My boy seems to be more into football or it would definitely be something to look at. I'd have a hard time not looking at CCH as an option if my son only wanted to play Bball. We always want what's best for our children. Of course, I'd have to move from Ft Thomas first so they wouldn't burn down my house. LOL jk

Two good and developing players....Green is probably ahead as an offensive player and Salter is probably ahead as a defensive player but both are improving in all areas. They got to play together this weekend for NKY Legends, and they formed a lethal combo on the boards and defending the paint. They contest everything inside, and they are relentless rebounders. They are both athletic and can run the floor and dunk.

 

Green will be a CCH kid.

 

Good luck to both tonight. HMS has more firepower, but Green will compete and if things fell right, would keep them in the game as long as HMS press doesn't create a bizillion turnovers.

Last year, I saw Green play every spot on the floor, from PG to C. He has a little "herky-jerky" with the ball, and somewhat chaotic, and at the Center spot, he lacked some foot work abilities. That said, he was still productive. And, you could see the oozing potential.

 

This year when I saw him, he played more in the high/low post. Didn't handle the ball as much. Was still productive, but wasn't being used as a matchup nightmare. He was still productive, and looked even better than last year.

 

He will get to CCH and Coach R will find a way to put him in perfect spots to allow him to be super productive. CCH has some real talent ahead of him, so a little foresight would suggest that he'll have a great HS career. Looking forward to it.
