John Anthony
How is that figure arrived at? (excuse my dangling preposition) Estimations and averages. Just last week gas was $2.24 in my area and that's when oil went back up a tad.
frankdracman23
I simply find it hard to believe that a problem with a refinery in Indiana can cause a jump from 2.39 to 2.99 in one day. Any everyone magically decided that 2.99 would be the price that would be warranted. Not 2.89 or 3.09. I also find it hard to believe that a hurricane that threatens the Gulf in about 2 months will make gas jump again but I guarantee that will happen. And here is another thing. If Kroger decided that they were going to have a Back to School sale and sell gas for $1.99 how would that go over in the Gas World? As soon as those Kroger tanks ran dry that would be the last of Kroger gas.

tcjkbt
Wasn't Jack Conway as Attorney General going to file suit against Marathon? How did that end up? Buying gas is like ordering lobster at a restaurant........market rate.

Even with the ridiculously convenient Indiana refinery shutdown, we're getting boned hard, with no Vaseline (apologies to Ice Cube there).

John Anthony
You're saying there's not a correlation between cost of Brent crude and price at the pump? The Brent market is also down $50-$60 dollars. It's always a little more than WTI but it's irrelevant all of it has tanked.
All In
Gas will never, ever get to a low price for longer than a week or so. It had no sooner gotten to $2.18 in our area, when this alleged Indiana refinery incident convenienently came up and now it is $2.69. The rumor of cheap Fall gas may happen but guarantee they will never let you have it very long. As stated above there will be a hurricane, wildfire, Trump will say something wrong or some excuse to jack it up 50 cents.
PurplePride92
$2.75 here in the finger lakes region in New York.

I looked up Louisville on Gasbuddy and $2.69 was in the cheaper price range. It was $2.09 at Racetrack on Linbaugh Avenue, a couple of miles from my house, this morning as I went out. This is the opposite of what normally occurs. Gas prices usually are higher, here.

Jim Schue
Amazing how Bardstown places went to $2.59 for a day and a half, but dropped back down to $2.39 this eve. I'm sure none of them felt guilty and were worried about getting nailed for gouging, though. Since this recent bump was totally legit and market-driven and all.
