"Fowling" - New Game

I don't think bars will be a big fan of drunks hurling footballs at bowling pins. Ever notice at Kings Island when you make the foul shots you win a mini basketball, but when you throw the football thru the hole, they do not give you a mini football? They do not want a projectile flying around.

Plus it looks like a bit of work resetting pins, chasing down the football. Folks are too lazy to do that for very long.

Can't see that catching on. Looks like a lot to drag around if you want to bring it somewhere. If you play with people who know how to throw a football it seems like the games would last maybe two turns.

At first I thought so too. But, after watching the video, I'm thinking the mass of the football will make that unlikely (hence the limited number of strikes thrown). If they were plastic pins, then sure. But the differences between the wooden pins and a football is pretty significant, so I think it'd be much harder than we think.

Unless you can find used pins, it seems like it would be a little expensive to set up. I found sets of 10 bowling pins online for $169.00. You would need two sets to play so with tax your looking at $350+ to get started.

^Put your purse down and throw the ball... :lol2:

:lol2: I know what you're saying, but I think it's more a matter of physics...force equals mass times acceleration. (TB&G can correct me if I'm wrong...) After a quick search, the mass of a football is less than a pound (14-15 ounces), while the mass of a bowling ball is 10-16 pounds. I just don't see being able to throw the football hard enough (fast enough) to overcome at least a 10x deficiency in it's mass, so you can generate the same amount of force. Especially from a distance of 48 feet.

Looked on ebay and found used ones for $20 per 10. Now you'd have to pay $30 or so in shipping, but still, $100 plus a couple sheets of plywood for your base...not going to be much different than some of the fancier cornhole boards I've seen for sale.
