July 22, 201511 yr Unless you can find used pins, it seems like it would be a little expensive to set up. I found sets of 10 bowling pins online for $169.00. You would need two sets to play so with tax your looking at $350+ to get started. Craigslist: Bowling Pins Here's someone in Winchester offering them at $20 for a set of 10. July 22, 201511 yr :lol2: I know what you're saying, but I think it's more a matter of physics...force equals mass times acceleration. (TB&G can correct me if I'm wrong...) After a quick search, the mass of a football is less than a pound (14-15 ounces), while the mass of a bowling ball is 10-16 pounds. I just don't see being able to throw the football hard enough (fast enough) to overcome at least a 10x deficiency in it's mass, so you can generate the same amount of force. Especially from a distance of 48 feet. Because you have to roll a bowling ball it's going to hit the pins at their center of gravity. Throwing a ball you can hit them at their top where it would take less force to knock one over. Plus since you can change the angle and direction of the throw you can simultaneously hit more pins on initial contact than you can with a roll. I can't remember ever holding a bowling pin so maybe they are tough to topple over, but from the video it seemed like each throw was doing a good bit of damage.
July 23, 201511 yr I'm with HT. There's too much work involved - chasing balls, setting up pins, and stuff. Most folks just want to stand there, talk crap, and drink their beers. Can't see this catching on.

The fact that women can compete pretty well in cornhole is what makes the game so popular vs other games like horseshoes (where the object you are throwing is heavier and requires more strength). If ladies don't like it, I think it will limit it's popularity in the long run. I could see myself and some of my friends playing this a few times, but I can't picture any of our wives playing.

Excellent point. Hadn't thought about it that way. The women play corn hole just as much as the men at our tail gates.

I've haven't seen very many women that can throw a football well. Heck, there are a lot guys that can't throw a football well. And while I'm sure you don't need to be a real gunslinger to play Fowling, having some skill would help.

July 23, 201511 yr Looks like an interesting game. I don't see it taking off to be the next "cornhole" but it looks fun. Has anyone here ever heard of/played the game "Canjam?" I play it all the time. Lots of fun.
