rjs4470
I am a huge fan. Not many on here seem to be into it, or post on the topics when they come up? Why is that?:rage: I like MMA. Don't love it, could live without it. But I watch nearly every event, although I've never purchased one. I'm not real well versed in the sport, and still don't know all the names, but got drawn in when my youngest son began wrestling, and he became a fan. My wife has become a pretty big fan and I'd say it's her favorite sport besides soccer, and the only sport she'll go out of her way to watch. I will admit to having a pretty big crush on Rhonda Rousey.
Run To State
Age thing for me, I prefer boxing over MMA. My view is, in comparison, MMA is just a street fight by people that have martial arts training. Again, I fully admit, that's my age. Problem with boxing now is it isn't anything near what it was when I was young, so I get the draw for the younger crowd to MMA.
newarkcatholicfan
Rousey can be sexy evil and ugly all at the same time. I try and post a thread on each UFC cars and I have also thrown it a Bellator card or two. Very few ever post on it.

I will watch some MMA but if there is a choice, I will go with boxing.
Getslow
I don't watch it. I know it's supposed to be this wildly-popular and fast growing thing, but I honestly don't think I have any friends that watch regularly.

newarkcatholicfan
I will be 52 in six days and to me Boxing is so boring 99% of the time, it appears to be more of a dance, then a contact sport.

Back in the old days, no way. I watched some great matches with some of the greatest boxers ever. Much more exciting than anything I see in boxing today or MMA. Habib
I used to watch it fairly consistently, but I haven't for a few years. I'm not sure why. I sometimes think Dana White borrows a little too much from Vince McMahon when trying to sell the promotion. I watched a "Fight Night" a few weeks ago and enjoyed it. That's where I am (except I'm 45). I grew up watching boxing, and I even boxed a little in college (I actually spent more time getting hit than actually boxing). My dad was a huge fan. But boxing slowly disappeared from TV, and what matches you could find were generally terrible, and now boxing is virtually invisible. And the pace is very slow, making it very hard to watch (for me) if you can find it on TV. MMA is much more exciting. Again, some of the appeal for me is the wrestling/grappling aspect of it. The comparison that some make, likening MMA to a street fight, is just incorrect. Most street fights are pretty weak....a few wild punches, from guys with no skill, and then over in a few seconds. These MMA guys are very technical, very disciplined, and it takes a lot of skill to do what they do. I think part of the unpopularity of the sport around KY is the fact that wrestling is still treated as a second class sport here in KY. Wrestling is a natural entry into MMA and I think as that sport grows here in KY, MMA will eventually grow more in popularity.
ThrillVille Cardinal51
I'll watch if it's on. I don't really follow it though. It's better than golf and tennis.
LIPTON BASH
I watch every event and I'm getting the one tonight. I'm a huge fan. I just honestly forget to go in that forum.
