July 7, 201511 yr I was in OTR with my adult daughter a few weeks back. A young black man stopped us and began telling us his problems. I told him I was not interested and that I came there today to enjoy the day with my family. He persisted in trying to corner me and my daughter. I finally told him in no uncertain terms (and loudly) to back off, while i took her arm and walked away. I have to admit the thought that I was going to get shot crossed my mind, but we just kept walking. Such a shame that so much has been done to improve downtown and yet it is not safe.
July 7, 201511 yr Just another reason to avoid downtown Cincinnati.Come to downtown they say... It's safe they say....
July 7, 201511 yr huh? Concert series was run by SelfDiploma which sounds a lot shadier than it is. It is a company run by a guy who has partial ownership of several tristate bars and actually is a very successful business man. So he gets the concert series through his business connections through his bars and promotes his web-business SelfDiploma.
July 7, 201511 yr 12AM for anyone 16 and 17, under 16 10PM. Did the curfew matter? Of the 7 arrested, 4 of them were adults. Including a 25 year old.
July 7, 201511 yr After watching that video, I really don't feel bad for the dude. Yes he got jumped, yeah it wasn't a fair fight, but how idiotic is that guy? You just got beat down by a mob of people, and you come back for more acting all big and tough? This comment is disgusting and idiotic. It's not like it was an organized boxing match. They were not going to shake hands and go home. This guy was not walking away no matter what. If he had tried to leave he would have been beaten again anyway, but likely from behind. He happened to be the unlucky entertainment for the evening. For you to say that he provoked his beating is Ludacris. This man was in survival mode.

He had just been jumped. Then when it was over, he walked away, and then decided he wanted to come back and confront one of them. That's idiotic. BTW, welcome to the site.
July 7, 201511 yr Author Se7ens, thanks, but it was his wording that confused me, which he corrected above your post.

I agree that he had the chance to walk away after the first beating. Clear as day on the video. He came back. That's on him.
July 7, 201511 yr I agree that the dude should have walked away after it was broken up the first time. However, he is stumbling around, so he had to have been out of it. To me, that was his second huge mistake. Call me what you want, but there is zero chance I'm fighting a dude when he has 50 friends there. Even if you whoop him, there are 50 other people just waiting for a reason to jump in.

July 7, 201511 yr I concede. It's his fault. People should be more aware of their situation after butt whoopins. The logical thing to do would be to nicely thank them and go on about your way. Obvious sarcasm and while I do agree with the bulk of you that it would have been in his best interest to leave the scene, I can guarantee you that if he attempted to walk away someone would have asked where he was going and round two would have followed anyway.
July 7, 201511 yr Author I'm not interested in what the white guy should or shouldn't have done after the beatdown, that is not the issue. The fact that you have unruly young people running around causing trouble is the issue. The fact that you have music that has a history of causing trouble, and the fact it was late at night. I know the officer who was punched, and he was about 200+ feet away from where the guy was who got beat, the entire situation down there was bad, it took the police over 50 minutes to gain control, with over 60 officers, many in riot gear. I mean, come on, who in their right mind punches a police officer? I would have been okay if officer Noe would have blown the guy away! You punch an officer, you have no respect for anyone! There was a video of a lady holding a little crying girl as they were stuck in the middle. I've said this before and I say this again, bring back the labor tent camps, some places in the south and out west have them. Maybe a little hard labor in the heat and sun will teach so of these young punks. I just wish the guy who got beat was carrying!
