So Hazard never had any kids out? Jackson may of been injuries but he never played like it on defense because he was all over the field. Jackson's problem on offense was there line play and receivers couldn't block hazard.

 

But any of the 4 class A teams could of won in 2011.

Let's leave the Mayfield vs. Hazard game out of this discussion.

Don't be a Homer. One person does not win a football game. He was the QB and made great decisions. That was a team effort and HC was the better team. HC was more athletic and was more physical that night. I can understand disappointing because you expected to win. However, don't assume that one person one a game...that's just silly

Maybe not, but HC isn't within 3 TDs of NewCath without him. HC's all-time best, and I loved the Strong/Armstrong group.

DeSales dominated that 2013 game. Anyone who was there, knows they were in control. Just like last year, they went vanilla in the 2nd. Not our style to run the other team in the ground. Anyone can look back, I always give NCC their props. But honestly they have the by far easiest path to the Championship game. If they were in the west, or a few of the teams in the west were put in the east, then it wouldn't be so easy. I know we are all ready for Football, and this going back and forth is in all good fun. I hope everyones teams make it through summer camps injury free, and in full strength come August.

 

This is true. The East last year was awful. NewCath was a good-ish team last year. They were not state championship game caliber. In years past, Beechwood would have gotten them at the Regional Final. They return a lot this year. Hopefully the line improves over last year. They just were a step slow.

Is there flooding in Mayfield or a power outage?

 

Power company said to turn air down and don't use anymore electric than possible so we all just turned our cpu's off. ColtPride was too serious, I am glad to see him take a lighter heart and mix it up some. After the semis he won't have that luxury anymore :laugh:

What was the score when DeSales eased off the gas? Also, did that entail putting in the second string or just adopting a less aggressive play style?

I saw Beechwood, NCC, and Holy Cross multiple times that year and there is no doubt in my mind that Holy Cross had zero chance against NCC without Fuller playing the way he did. There were several other nice players on that team but that playoff run was all about Fuller

It was all about Fuller because it was game planned to make you either take away the run or take away the pass. You couldn't take away both, which no one down the stretch did. The QB is a pivotal part of any team and offensively he did what was asked of him. However, the defense wasn't all about Fuller. That defense was very very good. It does take both sides of the ball to win

Different scheme and different positions. He was one of the best no doubt. Markell Walker, Stone, Armstrong, Fuller are the top 4. I don't know who to say was the best out of that group. I will say that Derek Barnes might be the best out of this group. I am definitely going to try to get down and watch him play this year. I think he might be one of the best players in NKY this year

The defense was solid - not very, very good.

 

What made Holy Cross' offense good was not the game plan. It was Fuller scrambling. That isn't game planning. No one game plans for the QB to get flushed out of the pocket, scramble and make a nice throw while scrambling. That is why myself and others give so much credit to Fuller. In that NCC playoff upset, Fuller made numerous plays scrambling for his life and that was what won that game for Holy Cross.

 

You have your view. Myself and others see it differently. We aren't going to agree. Enough about the past. This thread is about the future. Let's get back to talking about this year's 2A favorite.

NewCath returns 32 Seniors and Juniors I think they will make another trip to the state finals.
