July 2, 201511 yr I think Archie Bunker and George Jefferson were basically the same character, both were racist and bigoted. But the key to those shows success was that it showed them both for who they were and they both always came out on the short end of what ever argument they were trying to make. The problem with both of those shows was that a certain percentage of people agreed with everything Archie and George were saying, that was never the intent of the shows BTW. Both shows goal IMO was to show the absurdity of those two characters.

July 2, 201511 yr I was too. That was some of the best tv of my lifetime. The characters on all these shows have stuck with me for a lifetime. Its really different to watch them now as an adult. Goodtimes an Kid-Dyno-mite was as good as it got for me. Dang I miss those days... lol
July 3, 201511 yr Yeah, I was thinking the same. The Jeffersons wouldn't be allowed to be on television these days. George talked all kinds of craziness. I could see Sanford and Son not being allowed also. I think Good Times would make the cut. My exposure to the black culture as a kid was not being allowed to watch The Jeffersons and not telling that I watched Good Times. I think my dad was a closet Sanford fan. Until I got to college I thought every black guy wore turtlenecks.
