June 25, 201511 yr Author There's a house on my way home, on HWY 401 that has a huge Confederate flag flying in front of their house....with a cannon pointed at the road. Not going to lie....my sister told me they are nice people....I disagree without meeting them. It's their right to do so....but I am very clear that they and I do not have anything in common. Exactly. I try not to judge people. But I have already judged those that fly that flag. So, would you both feel/have the same opinion if someone was flying the "bonnie blue" flag pictured above from their house? And not saying you should or shouldn't, just wondering.

Neither of the flags you produced are as recognizable as the Stars and Bars aka the Rebel Flag aka the Confederate Flag aka the Confederate Army Flag aka General Lee aka I Wish I Still Had Slaves Flag. Took the words right out of my mouth. I'm pretty sure what the stars and bars represent.

I don't know about you, but I see WAY more Confederate flags than I do people disrespecting the Stars and Stripes...Yeah, I do too...I was just replying about the American Flag being disrespected in response to BirdBrains post.

Same as waving the stars and bars at a NASCAR race. Like others, I think the S&B needs to be removed from government buildings.

To me, it's whether it should be on government property. I don't care if you want to sell it, or fly from your car antennae, or hang it on the front of your house. If you choose to display it, don't expect an invite for beer and baby back ribs. It doesn't need to banned for sale. But that's up to individual retailers.

June 25, 201511 yr Author Took the words right out of my mouth. I'm pretty sure what the stars and bars represent. They both pretty much represent the same thing. The "stars and bars" is one of the later actually confederate states government flags. The "Bonnie blue" is an early flag that was flown on some confederate state capitals and army units. I guess my original point was...if these flags were hanging on someone's house most probably wouldn't give it a second thought...most wouldn't know what they were...might even shrug their shoulders and not think it a big deal. We have become so accustomed to seeing the "confederate battle flag" as the representation of the confederacy/south, there are actually many flags that were flown at that time.

Unfortunately, individual opinions are not the question, it is part of the USC United States Code - Chapter 4 - Article 1: Respect for flag No disrespect should be shown to the flag of the United States of America; the flag should not be dipped to any person or thing. Regimental colors, State flags, and organization or institutional flags are to be dipped as a mark of honor. a. The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property. b. The flag should never touch anything beneath it, such as the ground, the floor, water, or merchandise. c. The flag should never be carried flat or horizontally, but always aloft and free. d. The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery. It should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds, but always allowed to fall free. Bunting of blue, white, and red, always arranged with the blue above, the white in the middle, and the red below, should be used for covering a speaker's desk, draping the front of the platform, and for decoration in general. e. The flag should never be fastened, displayed, used, or stored in such a manner as to permit it to be easily torn, soiled, or damaged in any way. f. The flag should never be used as a covering for a ceiling. g.
