June 18, 201511 yr To tag along the Charleston, SC thread, how many of you carry in church? I do. Of course I carry nearly everywhere, so I'm probably not a good example.
June 18, 201511 yr I don't go much but I would, then again I've found 1 thing in common with you, I carry almost everywhere.
June 18, 201511 yr Author I do not carry a gun, but if I did I would never carry in church. Curious why?
June 18, 201511 yr I don't yet carry on a regular basis, nor do I attend church often, but I'm also curious as to why someone wouldn't carry in church.
June 18, 201511 yr To those that wonder why people would opt not to carry at a church, should they also carry at a school?
June 18, 201511 yr I have but don't regularly, no real reason that I don't. There is however at least one if not two guns in my pew each week and a few others that I know of in other areas of the congregation.
June 18, 201511 yr I don't carry in church. So, if one of you out there decides to rob me coming or going from mass this Sunday, please be kind enough to take at least part of it and put it in the poor box. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul will appreciate your patronage.
June 18, 201511 yr Author I carry for the protection of my family. In the rare (I hope) event that an active shooter would be in our building, I'd do everything in my power to protect my family. I'd stand a much better chance with my pistol than with my cell phone. I pray it never comes to that.
June 18, 201511 yr To those that wonder why people would opt not to carry at a church, should they also carry at a school? One of the interns at the company I used to work for, delivered pizzas in and around UofL's campus before he came to work for us. Apparently, one of robbers' new games is to order a pizza to a disserted house and then sit waiting while the victim pizza deliverer is coming knowing that delivery people carry cash on them for change. After a coworker got robbed and struck in the head with a bat and therefore hospitalized, he decided the company's policy against carrying weapons was EDITED and he concealed carried and just kept it secret from coworkers. While there he never had to shoot but he did pull twice on attempted robberies. Due to not wanting it to get back to his work place that he was carrying, he never reported the robbery attempts to the police. He would just lie to his manager and say it must have been a prank delivery. As rough as the neighborhoods around UofL can be he concealed carried on campus also. He only recently turned 21 so he was breaking the law but he considers like I safety as far more important than law compliance.

I've said on numerous occasions no way I deliver pizza without carrying, regardless of what part of town I'm in.
June 18, 201511 yr Curious why? No deep, philosophical reason. I just think that there would be no need as I have never felt endangered in a Church in my entire life. I know this thread is in light of the Charleston shooting, but personally I've never felt it was necessary for me. FWIW, I have never carried a gun and have not put much thought into whether I will or not when I am older/can afford one.
