Yep. No doubter on that Belmont run by AP. Second only to Secretariat.

Really fantastic horse. The sloppy disaster that passed for the track at Pimlico left room for some doubt, but that run today was amazing. He set the pace and no one could approach him.

I just watched the first presentation of the Triple Crown trophy in my lifetime. Didn't even realize there was an actual trophy for it.

I was somewhat ready to fault the way the rest of the field ran the race, but after seeing the final time I was able to put that doubt to bed.

 

Shed lots of tears on this one. I wasn't sure I'd live to see another.

The time was not second. Only second fastest Triple Crown time. 2:26:65 is fast but others have won the Belmont with faster times.
