June 4, 201511 yr Latest polls show that GW Bush had a higher approval rating then President Obama. Good news for Jeb? George W. Bush more popular than Obama: poll
June 4, 201511 yr I heard on CNN this morning that no one running for President since WWII had won when the sitting President from their party had an approval rating below 50%...said there had been three times that the sitting President had a below 50% approval and wasn't running for reelection that their party's candidate had lost. GW Bush President and McCain running and then Clinton and Gore not sure who the third one was unless it was Ike and Nixon.
June 4, 201511 yr They were also discussing how even though President Bush's ratings were going up that it had not transferred to Jeb. Also mentioned that President Obama's approval rating could really hurt Hillary and she may have to decide to really distance herself from the President to get over that. IMO if she starts distancing herself from the President informed Democrats may not take well to that and could turn on her or simply stay home on election day.
June 4, 201511 yr First post is slightly misleading. The word "had" should be "has". But, all presidents gain favorability after time. Even though those being polled may be asked about their opinion of a person when they were president only, many can't/refuse to ignore their good works since their presidency. Such as with Bush senior, he has done a lot for society with good works, then the stuff he and Clinton have done together. Carter as well, who has done a tremendous about of good works after he left office, many people can't separate the good works and the presidency. I don think this will factor in one bit on Jeb. He is his own person, he is not his brother, and he is not his father.

June 16, 201511 yr Ludicrous article. Almost all presidents do after they leave office is charity work. Who has an unfavorable opinion of charity work?
June 16, 201511 yr Ludicrous article. Almost all presidents do after they leave office is charity work. Who has an unfavorable opinion of charity work? Exactly. People LOVE Jimmy Carter. Who would have said that in November 1980?
June 16, 201511 yr Exactly. People LOVE Jimmy Carter. Who would have said that in November 1980? The Ayatollah Khomeini?
June 16, 201511 yr There seems to be a growing view that many will say they don't agree with the decisions GWB made but they feel he really believed he was acting on good information and was truly looking the protect the nation and that, again while they don't agree with his views, they feel he was a decent person. I feel the same was about Carter. I disagree with many of his views. I think he was a weak president and that he was overly idealist and naïve but I think he is an honorable man none the less.
June 17, 201511 yr Exactly. People LOVE Jimmy Carter. Who would have said that in November 1980? No on then and no one I know now. He has ripped every president since his term except our current president and that tells you a lot. If you look at every picture of all former living presidents you'll see no one stands close to this guy, especially President Clinton. I honestly know of no one who loves this guy. He may have great intentions and mean well but he's not dealing with reality. Sounds like someone leading our country now.

I was commenting on the tons of charitable work he's done, a reference to a previous post.
June 17, 201511 yr I couldn't stand Carter then, and I can't stand him now. It is ironic that he is a 1%'r and can afford to attempt to take the high road on all issues because they don't touch or affect him, but he is considered an idealist. Just as every other liberal, their policies destroy the middle class working person and family. Happened then, and it has happened now. I am old enough to remember what life was like during and immediately after his reign. W is blamed for the war....why doesn't anyone blame Sadaam Hussein?...Why not blame the weak and self centered members of the United Nations especially France, and Germany who would stand by and do nothing while Hussein murdered hundreds of thousands of Iraqis. So nobody cares about them? OK...bring up the economic crisis. The seeds for that were sown during the Clinton administration and de-regulation of the credit industry. The value (thus collateral) bubble burst when - just as it did in 1992 - in order to manipulate the election, the media barraged us all with negative, negative, negative news regarding the economy. The saying goes in the investment business...if people think things are getting better they will, if they think things are getting worse, they will. It is called rational expectations, and the media seems to be pretty effective at controlling weak minds and our country has plenty of them.
