They decided not move Justin to cardinal Hill because of his fever. It has been a lowgrade fever never went over 100.6 so it looks like the new antibiotics are working. So he will probably be moved on Thursday. Today they switched him to a different catherder and switched him from Ritalen to Bromocriptine.

The nurse today said she could see little signs of him waking up. I can't wait until he wakes up but I know he needs this sleep in order for his brain to heal.

Football gets on BGP earlier than me.

 

Everything I have heard on Justin has been positive. His fever is going down, but is still over 100. It looks like he wil probably be moved to Cardinal Hill (in Ft. Thomas) at some point today. I don't know what time.

 

They said that he has great range of motion and it seems like he is slowly waking up. Please continue to pray for Justin & his family. He still has a long haul ahead of him.

A friend of Justin's family has told me that doctors are saying that he should wake up in the next 2 weeks and will recover, although not 100%. They are not sure of the neurological damage at this time. Please keep the prayers coming.

Great news, I will continue to keep him and his family in my prayers. I pray that he can return to as close to 100% as possible, like 99.99% at the very least.

I think they said that patients are in Cardinal Hill, on average, for about 2-4 weeks. I could be mistaken about that, though.

The move to Drake Hospital went real smooth. Justin slept through it all. His fever goes up a little it. The highest it went to Saturday was 100.8 which is a low grade fever. He opened his left eye for about 15 minutes Saturday night. He was moving his legs around a lot today and he was making these motions with his lips and mouth. Like he was chewing on something.

Thanks again to everyone for all of the kindness. I would love to thank each and everyone but it would be impossible. We have a long, slow road ahead of us so I may be calling you for some help. Keep up those prayers. It's hard leaving Justin each night. I miss him so much. I miss him around the house, I miss his voice and his laughter. But I know he needs to rest and that he is healing his mind, body and soul.

Justin's fever was only 98.4 today. He is sweating a lot on his left side of his head and face. It's the oddiest thing the right side is dry and the left is soaking wet. I went and bought him a fan but they wouldn't let me plug it in until maintenace checks it out and they won't be in until Tuesday. His breathing is 50/50 he breathes 12 breaths and the machine does 12 for him. Today they also placed a wound vac in his abdomen incesion. This will aid in draining and healing his open wound. He was not very active today - even when they were inserting the drain it didn't agitate him at all he just yawned.

I was thinking about the boy last night, hadn't got to check in on him. Being in around the medical field myself, sounds like a lot of positive things. We'll keep praying for him. Get well soon big guy. Need anything else, just give us a yell. What is family for? Stay strong!

Justin has a slight case of pneumonia but with the 3 types of antibotics that he is on the pneumonia is resolving. Justin had some stomach issues today and vomited 3 times. They are pumping his stomach and he will be on liquids for a little while. They did an x-ray of his abdomen and the Dr thinks she know what the problem is. They gave him a shot of moriphine to help relax the squeezing of his intestines. At midnight they are planning to start him on the feeding tube again. Also today they started to ween him off of the ventilator. Currently Justin has full support. They will continue to decrease his support and if it goes ok they will put in a smaller treach. If the smaller treach works the next step will be that they will cap it off and let him breath on his own. I spoke with the head nurse today after she had a meeting with Justin's doctor. She said 4 things about the next move.

1. If Justin gets sicker then he would go back to UC

2. Justin has to wake up, be off the ventalator and be able to do 3 hours of Therapy then he can be moved to the brain trama unit at Drake.

3. If he wakes up and doesn't come off the venalator he would need 24 hour care either at home or in a nursing home.

4. If he's off the ventalator and not out of the coma he would need 24 hour care at home or in a nursing home.

His abdomen wound is healing up. It was 15.5 centimeters on Monday before they placed the wound vac and today the wound was 14.5 centimeters.

Justin is running a slight fever again. His urine and bacteria cultures show that he no longer has a UTI, but that he has 2 types of bacteria infections in his lungs. Another reason to get him breathing on his own so they can remove his treach. Its the perfect breeding ground for bacteris. They are treating the infections with 2 types of antibiotics. He did not do well with the weening of the ventalator today but the Respitory Therapist believes this is because of the infections. He has opened his left eye quite a few times today. He is young and strong and is fighting his way home. Keep up those prayers.
