Justin did not do well today with the Modified Swallowing test the food was going into his lungs. The Speech therapist will be working with him on swallowing exercises.

I had the hair stylist come in today and give him a buzz haircut. His hair was getting so long and he always kept his hair buzzed.

 

My job is to take care of the possible and trust God with the

impossible.

Justin's benefit was really nice. I would love to thank everyone personally but I wouldn't know where to start. My friends at work did an awesome job putting it all together. I am so sorry that I was not able to talk to everyone that attended. There are not enough words for me to express my gratitude for all the things that everyone has done for me. I'll be forever thankful. It's a wonderful thing that there are so many people who care about us. Generosity is a sign of a great soul. So the way I see it is that there are a lot of great people out there. I especially want to thank my family for all their love and support. There is no way I could have made through the last 11 weeks without them. There is not a day that goes by that one of them is not with me and Justin. The Ingle family is so blessed to be surrounded by so many loving, caring people. God Bless all of you.

 

My uncle is going through a similar situation as Justin, if you guys could include him in your prayers too I'd be grateful.

I know it's been over a week since I have done an update but I have been so tired and overwelmed that I just didn't have the energy.

Justin went to UC for his MRI on Friday and they were able to get a good reading. He was given 2 doses of Adivan and it helped to relax him.

On Tuesday Dr Carruthers the rehab doctor came in to see Justin and he was pleased with his progress. He upped his ritalin from 7.5 mg to 10 mg 2 times a day.

The wound on Justin's abdomen is still slightly infected but it has started to heal again. It is now 6.6 x 1.5 centimeters. A month ago it was 10.6 x 2.1. So if it continues to heal like it has it should be all healed up in a month or so.

They put Justin in his chair every day for about 2 hours. It was so nice yesterday and today that we took him outside the whole time.

They weighed him today and he weighs 196 pounds. He has put on 5 pounds since he first came to the Batavia Care Center.

I heard from my friends at work that 350 tickets were sold and around 250 attended Justin's beneifit.

I have the results from the Cat Scan and the MRI. Now all I need is someone to explain them to me. I see Justin progressing each day. He has been taking his mask off during breathing treatments. He gives hugs, high 5's, and he will hand you things. Yesterday and today he lifted his head up so I could fix his pillow. His motions are very slow and he tires out easily. He is still considered to be in a marked coma. Justin has a long hard road ahead of him. He is tough and has the good lord on his side. So I am confident that Justin will pull through this.

Yesterday morning before I got to the Care Center one of the aides that takes care of Justin noticed that he was looking like he didn't feel well. She told me it was just mothers instinct. She informed the nurse. The nurse took his temp and it was 99.9 and she heard some rattling in his chest so they took a chest x-ray. Hopefully I will get the results today.

Physical therapist worked with Justin yesterday while I was there. They had him sitting on the side of the bed with assistance and had him doing other things. They think he is doing really good and suggested to the Social Worker that he look into getting Justin into a rehab facility. Dan the Social worker told me yesterday that he will be calling Health South to come and evaluate Justin to see if he qualifies. It would be so nice to have Justin closer to home and in a facility that could work with him more. I'm not getting my hopes up. Dan said if they don't take him this week that he will continue to call them every week and have them to keep evaluating Justin.

Around 10:30 last night I got a call from Batavia. They said Justin had turned white, was very sweaty and clammy, had dry heaves and his abdomen was bloated. So the decided to send him to Mercy Hospital clermont. We got to the hospial at 11:15. They did a chest x-ray and a Cat Scan of his brain. His stomach was rumbling and some of the blood work counts showed there was definitely something going on in his stomach. Around 3:15 am they were going to admit him but per Batavia's doctor he wanted a Cat Scan of his stomach. 4:15 they put a dye in his feeding tube. 5:15 they ran the Cat Scan, results showed that there was no bloackage or obstructions. But they could see that everything was moving to slow through him. Finally at 8:30 am he was admitted and taken to a room. My mom and I left about 9:00 am to get some sleep. I am headed back to the hospital now.

Since he is the hospital the social worker will not be calling Health South this week.

Justin is resting comfortably at the hospital. His diagnosis is dehydration and gastroenteritis. They put him on phenergan for his stomach and it also helps him to rest. Him being dehydrated has us worried. It took a long time and a lot of people to find a vein. EMT tried 4 times and 3 nurses more nurses tried. Finally they found someone who was able to find a vein and around 3:00 pm yesterday they were able to start an IV. Justin is right where he needs to be for now and I'm hoping they keep him for a couple of days. Since he is in the hospital Health South will not be coming out this week to evaulate him.

Justin just pretty much slept all day today. They ran some blood test and did an ultrasound of his stomach. The blood test showed that his liver counts are high. The ultrasound results are that he has a hematoma in his liver most likely from his original injury and it just has to heal. I'm hoping Justin can stay in the hospital a couple of more days. His doctor at the hospital (Dr Patel) is going to run some more test tomorrow.

They discharged Justin Friday night from the hospital. He is now back at Batavia. He was all bright eyed and appeared to be feeling better. I had him giving the peace sign and counting to 5 on his fingers. They also told me that they have stop giving him ritalin. He seems to be doing better off the ritalin than when he was on it. Its supposed to work the opposite in coma patients and help to wake them up. But it seemed like when they upped it to 10 mg about 10 days ago that he was not as active.

Well it was 13 weeks ago yesterday since Justin's accident. Dr Carruthers the rehab doctor came to see Justin yesterday and was very impressed and doesn't think there will be a problem with getting him into Health South Rehab.

A woman from Health South came and evaulated Justin yesterday. Not sure when we will hear back from them. One problem she saw was his neck brace. She said she has never heard of someone with one on for 3 months. I've been asking about it and no one seems to be able to authorize for it to be removed. I asked the head nurse to contact UC to see if someone there can authorize for it to be removed. I'm sure we will have to go back to UC for a visit and a Scan of his neck. He is very uncomfortable with it and he takes it off all the time. He also lifts his head when you ask him to.

Health South will only be a short stay because of my insurance company. They will usually only authorize 16 days but if he shows improvement each week he could possibly get to stay 6 weeks. Also if my insurance won't pay I am hoping Medicare will. He does't have Medicare yet but I am supposed to hear from them today.

I had Justin pointing yesterday. I would ask "where is mom?" and he would point to me or "where is Justin?" and he would point to himself. I can't wait for him to get to a rehab facility where they will work with him for everyday. I know he will do great things.
