Health South called me around 10:00 Wednesday morning. They are looking forward to Justin coming to their facility and feel he will make a lot of progress with them. Now its paper work and authorizations that has to be done. So it will be a couple of weeks before he can make the move.

Batavia is a nice place and they all love Justin. A couple of the therapist and nurses get all teary eyed when Justin does different things. Mom and I have told them from the first day we got there "don't get attached, we won't be staying here long". But they said it was hard not to get attached to Justin and my loving family.

Today theraphy came and got Justin and worked with him on standing. He did real good, at the end of his session me, my mom, and my sister got to go in the theraphy room and watch him stand.

Justin has been doing some amazing things. On Monday my nephew Bo took off his baseball hat and told Justin to put it on his head. Justin knew what to do, he wears it pretty much all day and he adjusts it if needed. He's very smart it takes him a little while to accomplish these task but I do believe he knows what he's doing

Today I got to be there the whole time that Justin was in theraphy. They worked with him on standing again and are very impressed and said that Justin is a very determined young man. They also worked with him on colors and he knew them all. He also put a glove on his hand.

I'm no doctor but it appears to me that Justin has been waking up from his coma in the last week. I've heard it happens sometimes where coma patients just quietly wake up. It's different at the Care Center than it was at UC or Drake no one comes and test Justin. A doctor comes in once a month and we have seen a rehab doctor a couple of times. I can't wait until he gets to Health South. They have 40 beds and 20 therapist. So they will be working with Justin constantly. Another thing at the Care Center is that speech therapy have not been working with him much. The one at the Care Center was only there a week then she went on maternity leave. A couple more have come to see him but none have worked with him consistenly.

 

So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and in his good time he will honor you. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about what happens to you.

Justin continues to amaze us each day. He is so smart.

Speech theraphy came in on Saturday to visit him and left us some exercises for us to do with him. One thing they left was a paper of the alphabet. I held it up in front of Justin and he was able to point out the letters that I asked him to. He also gave me a kiss good-bye when I left. It was wonderful.

 

And we can be confident that he will listen to us whenever we ask him for anything in line with his will . And if we know he is listening when we make our requests, we can be sure that he will give us what we ask for.

I am just so shocked with how much he has been progressing in the last week or so. I'm at a loss for words but just wanted to share the latest.

Yea - Justin got his neck brace off for good today. The nurse came in and told him he could take it off. He took it off and handed it to grandma.

Physical theraphy came and got Justin today and we were not allowed to go and watch. They told me they had him crawling on his hands and knees.

Speech theraphy came to see him today and had him whispering. He whispered "I love you mom". It was the greatest hearing him whisper that.

He again had the therapist and some of the nurses crying today. He was mouthing their names, pointing to them and winking at them. He is such a heart breaker.

I went back to work today, Halie and I like to eat so it was time. I'm not working full time just 6 or 7 hours a day for now.

I worked 6:30 to 12:30 today then went to the care center and was there in time to see both of the therapist. Grandma will be going to stay with Justin most mornings. I will be going each day after work and different people will be with him in the evenings. Grandma made a nice schedule for people to sign up to be with him.

Justin is just unbelievable. We had him doing multiplication and reading (mouthing) words. We are constantly asking him questions. He understands and usually answers correctly. Things like our address, his cell phone number, where I work (etc). He is trying to talk. You have to get real close to him to listen and it's not quite a whisper.

He has been complaining of headaches so they have been giving him tylenol.

Therapy had Justin up today and taking steps. He took 4 steps 2 times holding on to the parallel bars. Also they are no longer using the Hoyer lift to get him in and out of his chair. They are just assisting him.

I am waiting on an appointment for him to get another modified swallowing test. He also has to go back to UC to get some stiches taken out of his stomach wound. It looks great now and they are no longer putting a dressing on it.
