What a great picture of Justin! He looks so good and seems so natural. Thank God for answering everyone's prayers! What a blessing the rest of his life will be! He is very blessed to have you there for him.

Justin will be coming home on Monday, October 30. He is so looking forward to coming home. He has been counting down the days. I'm not sure if it is going to be easier or harder when he comes home. He will need 24/7 care for at least a couple of months. Myself, Grandma (Bonnye) and Doug will be his primary care givers. I am lucky to have a job where I can work from home a couple of days a week.

 

We pretty much have the house ready for him. Still have to do a few things but nothing too much. I still have to tie up a few loose ends at the Rehab center. Like getting his prescriptions and medical supplies together, getting a bed and a wheel chair delivered. I will have to buy him a walker and a shower chair. I'm sure I will forget some things but that is to be expected. I'm trying to be as organized as I can by making lists.

 

I have to find him a doctor. I tried to get him in with Dr McDannold, Wendt & Heeb but they are not accepting new patients. They have been seeing him for the last 9 weeks and know him and his condition. I hate I have to find him a new doctor and to start all over again.

 

I get so overwelmed at times but I know how lucky I am to have Justin in my life. I am also so grateful for my loving, supportive family. If it was not for my family I could not made it through this far.

I'm sure "overwhelming" is an understatement. You've done an awesome job.

I believe with all my heart, that the Lord will never put on us more than we can handle.

It seems to me that your family is very blessed to have you too.

Justin's discharge from Health South went really smooth. He is a little more high maintenance than I thought he would be. Besides his tube feeding every 4 hours he is on 10 different meds.

 

He is so happy to be home. The first thing he said when he got home was "Mom it sure is great being home, I feel like I was gone forever." He is all set up with the bigscreen, cable and his PS2. He wants to catch up on some movies too so I went and got him 6. He is now ready to get on the internet too. I'm hoping tonight one of his buddies will help him out with that.

 

He is sleeping good at night. Monday night he only got up once and last night he slept from 10 pm to 6 am this morning. I have not been sleeping good. I hear every sound he makes. It will just take a little while for me to feel comfortable that he will be fine while he is sleeping. He told me yesterday that I needed to take the day off work and just vegitate. So I took his advice and it was nice.

 

Now that he is home - he has set his next goal and that is getting rid of the feeding tube. I still have not gotten his outpatient theraphy set up. Health South will not have a speech therapist available for a couple of weeks. So they set us up with an in home care program and they came to the house yesterday, they also did not have a speech therapist available. Hopefully I will get something set up today.

Yesterday was exactly 6 months since Justins accident, he has come a long way since then. We know he has a lot more of recovering to do but is very stong and determined.

 

We lucked out and one of the Drs (Dr Wendt) that was seeing him at Health South agreed to take him as a patient.

 

I still don't have any Home Care Theraphy lined up. I have been waiting all day for this one company to call me back. Justin really needs to continue with therapy. When he was in the hospital for a week and not getting theraphy made him weaker. Now I hate the thought of him going a couple of weeks without therapy. We can only do a limited amount with him.

 

I am fortuate that I can work from home a couple days a week.

 

Justin loves being home. He likes it when his friends come over and I like it too. It gives me a break from the action. Some of his friends are willing to do whatever it takes. Like taking him to the restroom, doing his therapy with him - etc. His buddy Chuck came over on Halloween and hung out with him all evening. (I got to take a nap). He got Justin's Playstation all hooked up for him. Before he left he tucked Justin in, cleaned up my front room and set Justin up with a movie. (What a Sweetie!)

By the way visiting hours are over at 9:30 Sun - Thur

If I not mistaken, Justin was at the CovCath game against Grant County Saturday.... Welcome back home Justin.....
