If I was making that move it would definitely be a decision between the current football coaching staff & me as the AD. (The district can play a role in it IF all the other teams in that school district are one level & another school isn't - example Bryan Station playing in 5A with the rest of the Lexington City Schools being in 6A, the district wanted them to play up even though they were several hundred students short than the other schools)

 

It isn't a guarantee that it is approved either. Multiple factors play into the approval @ the KHSAA level. Distance plays a big role in the decision making process (especially in playing up a level) Station was playing district games against Johnson Central, Montgomery County, Woodford & Ashland Paul Blazer if I am not mistaken @ that time. Two, 2+ hour drives for a district game with the Johnson Central & APB games.

 

 

Again I don't know who made the decision or why they made the decision to have Cooper and Conner move up. My guess was because of the enrollment size growing each year and will be in 6A in a few years anyway plus the fact that the district teams for 6A would be much closer than their former 5A district teams such as So. Oldham and Grant Co. etc. it only makes more sense to play in a district that consists of teams in the immediate area.

 

I don't know if that is the reason or not and I don't know who made the deicsion if it was a school board decision or individual AD's decisions. To me it really doesn't matter. I think it would have been a great move if KHSAA did what they should have done and made the NKY 6A teams all in the same district. That would have led to some great football and great games that counted for something during the regular season. It would have been a great district of 6 teams. Now because KHSAA screwed up, they made 2 3 team districts which makes the regular season worthelss except for bragging rights.

 

The district Cooper was in in 5A was not an easy district either. Very competitive between the top 3 teams in that district and Scott the last couple years was finally making some noise too. The games between Cooper, Conner and So. Oldham usually were great games that always decided the district champ. the last 4 years had Cooper winning the district title outright in 2011, tied for distritct champ in 2012, and tied for district champ in 2014. Very competitive district and was a fun district to be part of.

 

Their district in 6A will be a lot of fun because it is with 2 other schools in the same county and close proximity of eachother. Would have rather had 6 NKY teams in the same district, but Ryle and Conner has always been fun games to attend when they both played Cooper. This new district should continue that.

Cooper and Conner went a combined 2-6 against SK, Boone, Ryle and Campbell last year. While SK has went 10-0 against those 5 teams in 2 years.

Which you are entitled to have, as we all are. And I'm not going to discredit SK. They are a very well coached, well rounded team. I just don't think you can always use last years results for this years games.

Are you kidding me? This is huge. This is the Boone County school system making it more difficult for their teams to win a state championship in football.

Going by that ridiculous way of thinking then I guess SK should be the only 6A team in NKY because the last 2 years they have beaten everyone but Dixie then right? Since Dixie isn't 6A anymore then Campbell, Boone, and Ryle should also not be in 6A. Great philosophy. Now go and win a 3rd round game in the playoffs :clap:

 

6A in NKY has been a joke except for last year. Now maybe we can get some teams to actually do something in the playoffs like Dixie did last year because except for then, NKY had really nothing to brag about in 6A in quite a few years.
