Why did Cooper and Conner voluntarily request to play in 6A?

Featured Replies

Fear…He asked for the "Real Reason", :loll: and honestly the only one who knows that is probably RB. I highly doubt they ran from either of those two teams though, but again, I don't know the real reason. 5A or 6A, Cooper is going to play every team the same, and that's with a hard working work ethic and the fortitude that these boys have instilled in themselves since Youth football. By the way, Cooper opens up with Highlands, I believe. Maybe they should just tuck their heads between their tails and run the other way. :roll eyes: Heck No! WE FIGHT!!! WE FIGHT!!!! WE FIGHT!!!!

I did say shot in the dark! Heck I don't know.! Lol

No doubt that they have an easier path to the championship game in 6A then in 5A.

Hope NKY can handle the fifth place teams from Jefferson County.

Dixie and Simon Kenton in 6A

SK has never done that in the last 4 years. Shoot Cooper did it in the last 3 years. SK would make a

bronze statue of Marksberry if they did that.

Maybe they thought that since CCH and Highlands were coming to 5a they would never advance out of the 1st round. 6a presented better odds? Just a shot in the dark there.

Cooper is playing Highlands so they definitely weren't running from them. Cooper has always played every 6A school in NKY the last sev years, and faired pretty well with only 1 of them keeping Cooper from beating all of them.

I dont know know why they moved up other than the way Boone County is growing they would be 6A in a few years anyway so why not move up now to establish the districts and rivalries since KHSaa was realigning now anyway.

Or maybe they moved up simply because they were tired of hearing how weak 5A was so they wanted better competition to please all the 5A haters.

What at I don't get is who cares why they moved up, they did and now they get to compete against the best in the state. Good for them for not backing down.

It's much easier to play Highlands in September to "try to get better" than it is in November when advancing in the playoffs is on the line.

That was my point. Playing a non district team in a meaningless game is different than a district team or having to face them in the first round. I think it was stratigic. Had nothing to do with enrollment at this point they could have waited another few years. Refering to Conner and Cooper not just Cooper..

Has Cooper ever made it past the first round in the playoffs in 6A?

????????

I was simply going to ignore this post but I can't let it go that easy.

First people whine and complain because NKY teams are supposedly "ducking" Highlands etc. Now that Cooper is playing them there is a built in excuse just in case Highlands loses because it is early in the season?!?!?!?!?! That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. You do realize that every team is in the same boat don't you? You do realize it's also easier to play Cooper early in the season than at the end of the season also right? You do realize Cooper, just like Highlands, will have a new QB etec. and will also be trying to figure out their offense that early in the season just like Highlands don't you?

Please, don't be one of those that whine year after year about teams avoiding Highlands and then once teams finally do schedule them, excuses come rampant.

People are taking it for granted that all the teams knew what all the other teams were doing before they decided what class they were going to play in. I'm not sure that was the case at all. So playing a team out of your class makes it easier to win that game because it doesn't mean anything? Then what was Ryle's excuse last year against Cooper?

I also find it amusing that Cooper and Conner are getting crucified for moving up yet Highlands and CCH aren't. Doesn't make much sense to me.

Excuse #1 you had more points than we did.

Excuse #2 the fourth quarter was over before we could catch up.

Excuse #3 we got beat.

Its not an insult or a sign of weakness to not want to play that monster in Ft. Thomas every year to advance in state. No teams in NKY have been able to constantly win against them.

Again, Cooper is playing that monster in Ft Thomas. Whether it be in playoffs or not, it doesn't matter. At first people would say all the NKY teams that didn't have to play them were hiding from them. Now that teams are playing them the same people are saying it doesn't mean anything because it's not in the playoffs or in their district. You can't win.

Cooper moved up, live with it folks, it's not the end of the world. Cooper never ducked anyone. They always played 6A teams in NKY and over the last few years and faired well against them. It's only natural to move up especially seeing how many schools in their area alone were 6A already.

Doesn't Ryle play CCH early this year? Is it because they are afraid to play them at the end of the year?
