Grippo's Is Changing Things Up

Featured Replies

Saw online where folks have noticed a change in Grippo's original chips as of late. The chips aren't as thick as they used to be, and they are a little more salty than they had traditionally been. (Please note, I'm talking about ORIGINAL plain chips, and not Grippo's Bar-B-Q.)

Well anyway, Grippo's has apparently confirmed that they are now using a third party vendor, Barrel O'Fun Snacks out of Minnesota, to make their original plain chips.

We can only hope and pray that this isn't a sign of the times for the Grippo's company and that they aren't even thinking about thinking about making any changes to their absolutely amazing Bar-B-Q chips.

On a somewhat related note, Grippo's surprisingly decided about 1-1/2 years ago that they were going to stop selling their chips to Tom + Chee restaurants because they had no interest in growing their company to meet the demands of Tom + Chee's booming franchising. Count me as one who doesn't understand a company saying, "No thanks. We don't want to get any bigger or more successful."

We used to sell the BBQ seasoning in a shaker so you could make any thing taste like them

My brother in law lives in Missouri and you can't get Grippos out there. He usually takes several boxes back with him when he comes in to visit. They obviously could see much more if there were to distribute nationwide. Not sure why they wouldn't want to.

For those of you who make casserole-type dishes with crumbled potato chips or crackers as the topping, Grippo's BBQ are a great choice to add a little zing to the entree.

Grippo's BBQ chips are excessive. Grippo's pretzels are extreme. I love them both.

Funny but last month I had my first bad bag of BBQ Grippos . They were very much unseasoned . It was actually kinda shocking , decades of yummy spicy chips then this bad of barely orange colored chips with no seasoning on any of the chips . I actually emailed them a complaint and they sent me two bucks .

I bet the seasoning is great on Mac.

Never heard of these

I'll see if it's still available.

It's available. They sell it on their website, among other places. It's a great topper for macaroni and cheese, and for potatoes au gratin...and for those who make their own jerky, it's WAY good when you use it in that process.
