April 12, 201511 yr Reds got what they deserve today. Just can not beat the Cardinals in a series. Just like last year, can't hit in the clutch. Reds should have won but Jumbo brain locked in the eighth. I hate Wong and Carpenter. I hope Gregg goes when Bailey comes back next weekend. Blown opportunities today!!!
April 12, 201511 yr I was driving back from Chicago so I missed the game. How much of a lead did Gregg give up this time? He should never get to see the field when Cueto pitches.
April 12, 201511 yr ^ It was tied at 5 when he came in to start the 11th. Gave up a 2-run homer to Matt Carpenter.
April 12, 201511 yr That one really hurts to lose. Gotta score one of those innings when we had two runners on. Great day and weekend for MJ, just wish it put the Reds at 5-1.
April 12, 201511 yr Reds blew it today. BP has to get the bunt down. Should've used Leake as a PH to get a bunt down instead of Cingrani. Gregg sucks.
April 12, 201511 yr Cingrani - get the bunt down. Make the 3B field it. BP - ditto Replay has to be better. A - don't think there was conclusive proof to overturn. B - IF THERE WAS conclusive proof, you have to put the runners back at 1B & 2B. You put the defensive team in the impossible position of not paying attention to the umpire actually making the call. Home plate umpire is signaling safe, so Frazier assumes it is a force play and fires it across the diamond for the DP. Also, if he was tagged, everyone on the Reds (including dugout) should have been screaming TAG, TAG, TAG when the ball goes down to 3B If you watch the replay, you'll see the STL runner slides across the base (what does he care? He has just been forced out). If the ump is signalling he tagged Molina, Frazier either gets prepared to tag him or tags him on the overrun of 3B. Completely unfair to the players. Right call, if they were going to overturn the call, was to put the runners back to 1B & 2B. Reflexes, but Meso has to know better than to even try to tag him. Keep the force in play at 3B and get the out. If you can't get the DP (but with Molina running, you have a real good shot at it -- of course with Molina NOT running, it is a peice of cake).
April 12, 201511 yr Hopefully the Reds don't wait to long to fix the bullpen. They have some high upside fixes available in Iglesias and Lorenzen. Sure they are stretched out to be starters and that might be the long term plan but right now they have the stuff to get big league hitters out in the pen. On the offensive side I wouldn't wait very long at all to promote Winker and insert him into LF. I'm not panicking just simply hoping the Reds don't cut some of the veterans so much slack that we are out of it before we make some internal moves.
April 12, 201511 yr The way they play against the Cards not surprising. The Cards know they are going to beat the Reds where the Reds hope they can beat them. After Reds took 5-3 lead, Cards came right in and immediately tied it up. No Panic in Cards dugout.
