While that headline may not mean much to many of you. This, by all accounts, outstanding young Trooper died on his first day on patrol by himself.

 

A recent graduate of a 23 week academy then followed up that training with 3+ months of FTO time where he road with a training officer. Tuesday was his first scheduled day to work on his own as most police officers in this country do.

 

On this same day a man robbed a near by bank and then murdered a man to steal his car. This Trooper found the car, called it in and initiated a traffic stop. As other officers were driving up they witnessed the man get out of his car and start shooting at the young Trooper and the Trooper return fire. The suspect died from his wounds at the site. Officers gave immediate aid to the Trooper and transported him to the hospital where died from the gunshot wounds. Even though he was shot, he stayed in the fight to ensure that this criminal would not and could not harm another person. He was 22 years old, a recent graduate of a local high school, former soccer player wrestler and left behind two sisters and his mom and dad. He was the kid next door.

 

Those of you that know me, know how close to home this story is for me.

 

Some of you will undoubtedly comment or at least think, "Well he knew what he was signing up for" In the past that always made me mad when some of you have posted that in response to a police officers death.

 

But I have changed, you are right, "Police officers DO KNOW what they are signing up for". They are signing up to say...

"You may hate me, but I will protect you. This is my calling I will do it to the best of my ability and though I do not want to die I understand that my life is put on the line everyday for my friends, family, brothers in uniform, complete strangers and even those that may disrespect or hate me"

Just awful. The guy may have only been on his first day on the job, but his actions are proof IMO that he was a heck of a cop.

I have the utmost respect for those who put their lives on the line daily to protect us.

Im sure State Sen. Sen. Ernie Chambers of Nebraska is happy a ISIS terrorist was killed. If not he may have done it himself.

 

As for me I feel so sorry for his family and pray for all police to be protected from the violence that is intended toward them.

 

Its people like the one mentioned above that just help keep the flame and fuel of violence going.

 

I could never imagine a person in his standing to say such things about killing a cop.

This one has bothered me since I heard about it.

Sad, sad story. What a shame. Prayers for his family. Hard to imagine their loss. I have a son the same age and can't wrap my head around what it would be like.

Horrible story. Especially with it being his first day on his own. I cannot imagine what his family is going through right now.
