Michigan St controversy?

Featured Replies

I was watching PTI yesterday and they were debating if Virginia got hosed because of Michigan St being under seeded. What do you all think? Did the Spartans deserve a 7?

If a team is underseeded, aren't they the ones getting hosed?

Yes they should have been higher than a 7, but I'm not sure that should be considered a controversy. Virginia is home watching because they can't score, it isn't the fault of 10 suits in an Indy boardroom.

No different than UK getting an 8 seed last year anf Wichita St getting a tough draw.

I think Michigan St should've got a 6 seef over Xavier and No way Georgetown should've been a 4 seed. A lot of questionable seeds these past two years.

I'm not sure how much higher UK should have been last year, but they were better than an 8 going into the tournament. After that happened to Wichita State last year, I'm not sure anyone has any complaints.

Virginia has the Coach of the Year, you'd think he could have prepared and gotten his team to play better so the seed of Michigan State wouldn't have mattered.

I'm not sure if they were underseeded or overseeded, and I don't care, but since I drew them in the pool at work yesterday, I'll be rooting for them!

There are questionable seeds every year and there always will be. I firmly believe that the best team wins most years, and that the seeds aren't as important as many make them out to be.

Agree. This is nothing compared to having a play in game to see who the 11 seed is. If you are good enough to be a possible 11, aren't you good enough to be a 12?

Seeds are really overrated IMO. You play who is in front of you and move on. You are not getting Hampton and Robert Morris after the 1st/2nd round anyway. You will be getting a good mid-major or power conference team. A lot of whining about nothing. Guess it makes for a time killer for the sports guys and gals in the media.

Exactly. The old school in me says you gotta play whoever is in front of you on game day.

Last 6 years before the Tourney started who was the best team? Now tell me who won the title?

Wouldn't this controversy be stronger on MSU's side. They had a decent year and were seeded to have to face the ACC's regular season champ in the second round. Virginia was seeded right were they should have been.

Ask, and ye' shall receive:

2014 Florida

2013 Louisville Even a blind squirrel...

2012 Kentucky Bow to the Brow

2011 Ohio State (upset by #4 seeded Kentucky)

2010 Kansas (lost in the 2nd round to an underseeded Northern Iowa:thumb:)

2009 Louisville

We didn't know who the best team was. The tournament hadn't started yet.
