There's a lot of stuff about this game on Twitter. I'm not sure if it can be posted here or not but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the KCC folks believe they were jobbed last night.

Whole lotta stuff......

Knott players tweeting directly at KHSAA seems a little insane to me. I understand you feel you were robbed, but kcc has come to Lexington every year with huge expectations and couldn't get it done. If anyone really believes that the entirety of the KHSAA didn't want to see Mr. Basketball in the final then you need your head examined. This tournament is about who the best team is on that night, and it looked to me like knott got outplayed and out coached. Seems they are always humble in victory, but not so much in defeat. Last year when they lost to BG in the first round, BB blamed the refs and BGs physicality for the loss. When do the excuses end? Man up.

And they have every reason in the world to believe that!

I walked around the arena concourse today at halftime and between games and every group of people I came into contact with had the same opinion---that Knott got hosed big time, with the tall ref that left the game early today with an injury being the main culprit.

Straight up evenly called game and Knott wins by 10-15 points.

The no-calls fouls that should have been called on Calloway hurt Knott as bad as the cheap fouls called on the Patroits. Hall was pushed and held all game, and drives to the basket fouls were not called.... unless it was on the other end of the floor. 42-17 free throw discrepancy tells the story.

I can understand why Knott's fans and coaches are upset.

I've watched Knott lose games three straight years down here. No excuses, that simply didn't play well enough and lost. This game was totally different. I'm not from Knott County but that's how I see it.

I'll tell you who needs to "man up", the tall referee that officiated the game. He had it in for Knott last night and who knows why?? Maybe BB ticked him off early in the game or maybe he had other reasons. But IMO it looked obvious. In a close game it doesn't take many bad calls to swing it one way or the other. But in this game there there was more than enough bad calls, or no-calls, to cause Knott to lose the game.

Man that's sad. There is no one robbing these kids.

They were out played an out coached.

Move on.

I was for Calloway and thought they got more than their fair share of calls.

The tall ref was terrible.

KCC people have gotten pretty upset all over twitter.

Knott shoots 12-17 fts 30 teams fouls and 1 tech

Calloway 32-42 fts. 17 team fouls

I heard this stat from a person at the state tournament. Evidentially all the state tourney games are charted. One of the things they chart is the total number of whistles during the game. In this game there were 77 whistles. Of that total the tall ref had 51 of the whistles. Of his 51 total, 39 went against Knott and 12 went against Calloway. 39-12 is as about lopsided as it gets. I don't know if BB got under the guy's skin early in the game or what but those numbers explain quite a lot IMO.

I agree totally, but Knott still had their chances to win if Cornett had not hipped the guy at half court and Justice had not pushed off in 2nd overtime on the inbounds. The tall Ref was horrible, does anyone know what region he was from?

Knott lost the game themselves....nobody else is to blame....they always are poor losers and had much too high expectations in tourney........come back down to earth with the rest of us

I heard the same thing on the radio interview with the man who does the charting. I'm a BG fan and I wasn't at the game but he also charts the position of the ref when a call is made and stated that this ref was also out of position trying to make his 51 calls.

Knott is crying about how they got cheated. I guess they know now how it feels the way they have treated everybody else. 2 years ago against Breathitt Co they called a foul on Breathitt Co 80 feet from the basket sending Knott Co to the line to win the game. They are also complaining about Calloway shooting 42 FT and Knott shooting 17. Last year against Cordia, Knott Co shot 40 FT and Cordia shot 12. I guess they have a short memory when it comes to them putting the screws to somebody. They are also crying about the police surrounding the Knott Co fans treating them like criminals. The last 2 years they have called the state police and had them surround the Cordia fans and escort their players out of the gym at Cordia and there was never any trouble from the Cordia end. It is hard for me to feel real bad about it when I think they got exactly what was coming to them . The chicken have finally come home to roost.

Capitalization / Rule !3

When you let a team take off 45 seconds each offensive possession an you have the better players you are setting yourself up for failure.

You could see CC players gaining confidence as the game went on. KC was able to speed them up using half court traps in the 2nd half on several possesions but pulled it off after getting a small lead.

KC lost a similar game like this to Oldham co a few years ago at state. I think this game only got into the 30's.

Slowing down the game doesn't always equal a win.
