Calloway County 73 Knott County Central 68 2 OT (Sweet 16 First Round)

Featured Replies

The refs made the difference in the game tonight IMO. I know that's drastic to say but that's how I feel. Especially the tall ref. He was terrible! Picky fouls on one end and no call play-on's when Knott was on offense. Beat Knott to death under the basket with holds, slaps, and pushes. Nothing called. Not that way on the other end.

Calloway won the game from the free throw line.

But Knott still had a chance at the end but missed a couple of put backs that would have given them a 1 point lead with 4 seconds.

Hate to see their season end this way. Sad.

The foul I'm talking about was not on Justice.

Either way, it doesn't matter. Calloway is a really good team and earned a hard fought win.

The foul on Corrnett at half court. I see what you saying about having that possession back.

Sounds like a lot of excuses...bottom line Calloway moves on

No excuses! Point blank the refs made a horrible call. NO Question about it. The kid flopped, it was not a foul no matter were the ref was or if it was "high". You let kids decide the outcome.

I tried to tell you guys Calloway would be hard to beat. Region 1 is criminally underrated every year. Game in region 1 is played in the lane much more than the three point line and so it is no surprise they shot a lot of free throws. Same with McCracken and Wayne last year. Calloway will give Bowling Green all they want also.

Yeah, that's the one. Justice was going to hold and go for the win I believe. That foul call took the ball out of his hands. I didn't have the benefit of instant replay. I wish I could see it again

KCC comes up small at the tournament. They fooled us two straight years when it appeared they were a dark horse to win it all.

That said, I mentioned it in the game thread, but as an observer with no skin in the game, I feel the officiating was highly questionable and uneven. The player control foul at the end of regulation was especially awful, but I also feel like the last foul on Justice was weak. You can argue that KCC still should've made plays to win and perhaps you're right, but they were also denied the opportunity on several occasions.

Left-hand side of the Commonwealth made a huge statement over the course of the past two days!

I don't see it. I think Bowling Green wins by 15.

I would guess they will make a huge statement on attendance the rest of the weekend too.

If I'm the left hand side of the state, I don't mind one iota.

I wish Westsider were here to provide us with greater insight on a historic two days for WKY hoops.

Someone asked me on Twitter when the last time regions 1-4 made the second round. It was 1960.

I think the Knott people were saying the same thing.

I'm convinced that Bowling Green would beat either of these teams after watching them all play today.

I mean, that's fair, but you're also talking about a team that played the last game of the night and it took two OTs going against a deep team that ran their opponent off the court. They're fresh.
