Was being sarcastic...not really sure what this guy would know about CovCath. They actually return several players that started several games at times.

 

 

I meant no disrespect. However, when I compare film and roster, the colonels lost its defensive backfield to graduation. Shields, Steins, and Thorsen will fill the gap of graduation on the d-line. All three did play a great deal. My comment was more of a compliment to the graduating seniors, than a stab at the players who remain.

Would the game be in Ft. Thomas or at Pulaski? Could someone from Pulaski let us know how the last trip for their football team to Highlands turned out?

 

Dixie, CovCath and Highlands would all beat Pulaski County!

Highlands gave up 41, 38, 49, 34, 36, & 42 last year. They were atrocious last year on Defense...without Hodge they do not win the state title...in fact, they don't play for it even.

 

Let us also not forget Highlands up-turned nose at Collins in 2013.

Second, you can say the bolded about most teams that win state titles; "if they don't have their best player, who happens to be the QB, they would not win the state championship". I frankly agree with you that if HHS did not have Hoge last year, they would not have won the state championship...but they did and they did. Next season is a whole new ball game, not just for HHS but for everybody else. Time for new players to step up on both sides of the ball...and after winning 7 of the last 8 championships, I think it is safe to say that HHS is pretty good at getting the new players to step up.

Since you brought this up, let me pose this question. At this time last year, what exactly did Highlands have coming back that made one think they would win the state championship? Taking that into consideration, how can it be said that they were in better shape last year than this year?

 

My thoughts, you have 3 offensive lineman returning to a team that did what they wanted to who they wanted to do it during the year and only got better at the end. QB is an unknown, much as it was the prior year. RB has a guy returning that has gotten meaningful carries over the last 2 years. 3 or more receivers return that all had key catches whereas last year the number 1 receiver ended up at Warren Central.

QB was in no way an unkown for HHS last year, many thought Hoge should have started ahead of Houlston as a Jr.

 

I do agree that HHS is stronger in several positions going into this year, particularly O-line which is a great place to come back strong if you're breaking in a new QB.

I think you're right, it always amazes me how some of these guys develop year to year. I guess the camps in addition to the offseason workouts makes all the difference in the world.

Owensboro returns at least 14 of the 22 starters from the state championship game. The biggest loss IMO will be Coach Joe Prince. They return leading rusher TJ James(1200+ Yards & 18 TD's). Jahlil Barrett returns at RB/WR/CB. Folks will really like JR Landon Board,JR Malik Mundy,& SO Ray Weaver. All will get carries at RB. One of the top WR's in WKY is transferring in from Apollo (Rates Lewis). On the O-line,I believe, 2 starters graduated. Outside LB Gekove Gardner,the areas defensive player of the year, returns. Actually 7 of the top 10 leaders in tackles from last year will be back. The secondary will be lead by CB Kishawn Walker(10 pass break ups.) The Red Devils have a really strong Sophmore class coming up too. Idk how folks around the state feel about Bowling Greens Sophmores to be but Owensboro beat them twice in FR ball. All in all I think Owensboro should be pretty good if the new coach knows what he's doing. Red Devils open up at Warren Central.

It actually gets worse...I was wrong, Ryle was 5-7...so you lost to a one dimensional 5-7 Ryle team with An extremely limited passing game but are somehow going to beat the reigning 5A champions who return almost their whole team and a truly explosive offense?

 

This has gotten comically delusional.
