Hip replacement is scheduled for 2 weeks from today. Getting kind of antsy about it, nervous. It is after all pretty major surgery, but my Dr. makes it almost seem like getting your tonsils out. I sure hope that's about what it's like.

If it helps, a guy I work with had it done last year and he did very well. He recovered quickly and is extremely glad he had it done. Hope all goes a smooth for you.

Maybe they can work that lobotomy in while you're there!

I kid! I kid! Sending prayers for a quick and complete recovery!

That was already taken care of in a previous surgery.

I know very well 4 people who have had hip replacement surgery in the past 1 1/2 years. The only regret of every one is that they didn't do it sooner. Best of luck to you!

Good luck. I just had a total knee replacement on the 10th of February. What really helped me was I did a lot of research on the procedure and did some of the physical therapy exercised before the surgery. Everyone said that really helped. I even changed my diet before the surgery to foods that would help my recovery. I can tell you for a fact that physical therapy will be very very important. Also don't try to be a superman and be very honest about your pain levels when you are in the hospital. They dr will want to get the proper pain medication levels. This is very important for your comfort.

I'm glad I had it done. It actually has helped my other knee like the surgeon said it might.

Also let me suggest this. My dr told me the type of knee replacement part he was going to use and also told me to do research on it. You can go to youtube and watch the surgeries if you would like. I actually found a video from the company that made my new knee Smith and Nephew. I found the video very informative. Let me give you a piece of advice if you don't like graphic videos then I wouldn't look at them. The knee replacement surgeries look like a carpenter or auto mechanic with the hammering and sawing with a reciprocating saw.

I had my right hip replaced about tow and a half years ago and I am doing great. By the way I turned 72 last September. I was driving in three weeks and have no restrictions on my activities. I did physical therapy prior to the operations and did not put off getting the replacement done, and I think this had a lot to do with my results.

Do your therapy and good luck.
