Science Friction Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 I was at a Cracker Barrel yesterday and while the server was taking my order , we began chatting about how busy the restaurant was and she mentioned, with exasperation, that Sunday's had the most difficult customers as well. As I inquired further, she said the the church crowd that swamps the restaurant after church services are , as a whole, horrible to wait on. She said they are by far the rudest, most impatient, most demanding, and least appreciative of all customers. On top of that, she said they are BY FAR, the worst tippers! I found this very interesting since I had heard similar sentiments at a few other sit-down restaurants both in KY and elsewhere. This woman, who appeared to be hard-working and seemed to take her job seriously, looked to be in her late forties or early fifties. She assured me that I could go to any other Cracker Barrel and the servers would say the same thing. Preachers, the lady claimed, was no exception to this example of Christian hypocrisy. My question... why are so-called Christian people so rude, even down right mean to poor servers just trying to eek out a few meager earnings to support themselves and their families?
Jumper_Dad Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Asking local waitresses around here they say it's the out of town tourist that are the rudest and cheapest.
UKMustangFan Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 For someone who despises religion and those of faith so much, you sure are obsessed with the subject. Me thinks you need to find something better to do with your time than the constant mockery and ridicule of something you don't believe in. :idunno:

PP1 Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 I am a Preacher and I am a very good tipper. But when I was going to NKU I was a server at Don Pablos, Brio, and Clauddagh Irish Pub. The statement about the church crowd being bad tippers is very true. That is why I make sure I tip well. I actually had it down by denomination. The pentecostals and baptists tipped the worst. One time the baptist church left me a church bulletin as a tip. Catholics actually tipped pretty well. The most disappointing tip I ever got was at Brio when I served TJ Houshmanzadeh. He spent about sixty dollars and tipped only 5 bucks.
75center Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Sounds like an atheist server with an ax to grind. Imagine that. Those people must attract each other.

PP1 Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Which denomination is he? I have no idea. It just stuck in my mind. Maybe I was just a bad waiter:D

You don't believe, we get that, move on.
rockmom Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 I have been a server off and on over the course of the last 25 years. I agree. The Sunday church crowd is only one upped by the people I used to serve on .10 cent/$1 draft Tuesdays.

I have heard this from many servers, not the specific denominations detail, but that the church crowd on Sundays is notorious for this kind of behavior.
Jim Schue Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 I have heard this from many servers, not the specific denominations detail, but that the church crowd on Sundays is notorious for this kind of behavior. This has been my experience as well. Always hated waiting on the pious types, especially the ones who are going out to dinner so that they can adhere to some sense of religiousness by not working on Sunday. They're more than happy to make somebody else bust their butts for them, though.
