February 22, 201511 yr The most important test for certain positions, maybe. Certainly not for QB. I'm with Clyde...if you're a pocket passing QB, why even run? Look at the tape. No one makes them run. But I can still see why teams want to know how fast they are.

He'd have be drafted the same spot had that been 4.6 or 4.7. What's more important is his shuttle times, his 10 second split, etc. Shows acceleration, quickness that can be used to get around the pocket. Who cares about top end speed?

It implies that there is zero correlation with running the fastest 40 time and success at skill positions. Of course, speed is a very important aspect of football. It isn't the only important aspect, but it is very important to success at skill positions with the exception of QB.

No one is saying the 40 tells you how good a player will be. But the teams absolutely should do their research and see how fast a player is.

Ray didn't do anything in the combine, that hurt him, but says he'll do it at his pro day. Got Beasley, Gregory, Fowler and others that will be in the first round mix.

I think Fowler, Gregory, Beasley or Ray will go top 10. Then maybe a couple might slide.
