Hard to beleive Jones is a Freshman I had no idea. Moment of silence before the game was cool but could have done without all the hugging at half court. Not the best Rivalry in Sports.

Definitely a very good player. Can't stand him though. He just looks weird. :lol2:

 

 

Duke is horrible. They play 0 defense. 3 wins at best in the tourney.

 

Tell that to Wisconsin, Virginia, Notre Dame and 20 other schools. I personally though it was a vey entertaining game. The defense was good at times by NC, I just think Duke got tired. They are not real deep.

If it's better it is because of the 8 mile distance and being in the same conference.

 

UK-UL might be the better one since 1983 based on what has been at stake.

 

1983 = UL beats Cats in OT to advance to the Final Four

1984 = UK beats Cards in Sweet 16 to advance to the Regional Final

2012 = UK beats UL in the National Semi-Finals

2014 = UK downs Cards in Sweet 16 to advance to the Regional Final.

 

Between them UK and UL have 11 National Titles (Duke & UNC share 9)

 

The Heels and Devils have never had to face each other in the "Do or Die" NCAA Tourney. I give them the nod for the quality, the proximity and number of times they play (twice each year and sometimes three times). But I wouldn't say UK vs UL is lagging far behind for Significance and Hate in a rivalry.

 

Just my two cents.

With respect to "is it the best rivalry in sports?". Maybe it is just me, but I never get the sense there is true disdain between each school. I have always felt like there was a mutual respect between the two and it gets a lot of buzz, for obvious reasons. Auburn/Bama I feel each could not care less if the other school were torched to the ground. I don't get that from Duke/Carolina.

I wouldn't put Duke/UNC basketball over Bama/Auburn football or OSU/Mich St. football.

The bolded is just simply not true, but regardless no one on here is saying the UK/UL rivalry is as big. Duke/UNC is still not the best rivalry in all of sports. That's just a fact.
