All State Baseball Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 NFL Scout on TJ Yeldon: He's overrated because he's from Alabama NFL scout on TJ Yeldon: He's overrated because he's from Alabama
born2reign Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 The scouts have said similar things about Wisconsin running backs in the past (according to rumors, I have no inside knowledge). The thought is draft Wisconsin linemen, they are the key to the running game. I think the same reputation may apply to Alabama at this point.
ggclfan Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Eddie Lacy seems to be doing OK in the NFL - total stud...
ggclfan Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 The scout says he is not very fast. That should be easy enough to prove either way at the combine.
cathbird Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 I think the same thing about QBs from Oregon.
John Anthony Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Eddie Lacy seems to be doing OK in the NFL - total stud... Id take Bell.
TheFauxTiger Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 RBs are becoming dirty words to scouts anyhow, so not surprising. It is telling that he became less effective IMO once he had to run behind this years line, as opposed to the NFL one the last couple years. Same thing happened to Carlos Hyde at OSU, not sure he is as good as thought. As it turned out he was running behind a line that had 3 rookie NFL starters on it, and another one on the way in Taylor Decker.
75center Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Yeldon's ok but I've never been uber impressed with him. Backups seemed to do just as well if not better when they were in.
spindoc Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 His knock is that he runs too upright, has no lower leg drive for the extra yard, puts it on the ground too much. To say that because he's from Alabama is the reason he stinks is moronic.
Blue Magic Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 I'm no NFL scout but he looks like a back up NFL RB to me.
born2reign Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Eddie Lacy seems to be doing OK in the NFL - total stud... Trent Richardson and Mark Ingram both struggled, so this isn't totally out of left field with the recent vintage of Alabama runners.
bugatti Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Trent Richardson and Mark Ingram both struggled, so this isn't totally out of left field with the recent vintage of Alabama runners. Richardson has been a nightmare. Ingram has been ok, not great. Some injury issues. Who claimed Yeldon was highly rated to begin with? Or is this anther case of people not understanding what the term "overrated" means?
halfback20 Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Trent Richardson and Mark Ingram both struggled, so this isn't totally out of left field with the recent vintage of Alabama runners. Didn't Ingram have a decent year this year?
