Them stats coming from you. I would say subtract 2 inches and 20 pounds.

Interesting with that style of play, and the size of that offense of line probably makes getting 4 yards a carry easy, but size isn't everything. Need to get up there and see a game this season.

 

Yeah .. They are a fun group to watch ..and now moved into 4A.... It could be an interesting season !!!

Ron is 6'1 and is 300 lbs on the dot. He played last season at around 320 lbs.. Gage Tucker is a solid 6'3 or 6'4. And around 310 to315 I'd estimate

This season , I believe Scott high school will have a solid offensive line. Many big guys returning . Senior Ron Rice . Junior Gage Tucker these boys did well last season and I look forward into another good performance out of the line this season with Scott's run attack offense.

Dixie Heights had very good good line play last year. At least two D1 scholarship recipients. Everyone knew Dixie was going to run the ball and they still couldn't stop them (until they met Trinity).

 

By that logic shouldn't Trinity be considered to have a better line?

 

Though, I suspect Manual or St. X were the best. As much as I love the Rocks, those two seemed to be the best on both O and D lines.

Trinity might not have had the best individuals on the O and D line but they probably had toward the top in both when it comes to entire unit. The O line got much better as the season progressed and I think that QB Young only got sacked one time in the playoffs. Not bad considering how much Trinity passes the ball.

I bet Scott County would vote for Meade County along the defensive line!

Well... yeah.

 

It's tough to say you've got the best line (O or D) with a 48-0 loss. Even if they are the state champions, given that other teams played them closer.

Tucker is around 6'4 315 age 15 squatting 550. He will be a junior. Rice is at 6'3 300 they both are very strong and athletic and play both sides of the ball. The rest of line average 6'1 275. This is a solid group returning for the Eagles.

 

I am not taking anything away from their size,, they do look good in their uniform. However, I saw them play against Cooper and they were beaten solidly on both sides of the ball. It may have been an off game or Cooper's scheme exposed a few weaknesses,, but I think a big improvement is needed if they are going to be a dominant line.

Scott High School vs. Cooper High School - Gage Bradley Tucker highlights

The Cooper game , was definitely a game Scott as a whole did not play well together. The other 9 games played were much better of a performance as a whole for the Eagles. Gage was a young sophomore at age 14 handling his own against much more experienced and older athletes last season . It is games like Cooper that help teach younger athletes a lesson to deal with losing. It is a part of a game noone likes to experience. He also had standout games like going up against a physical Newport line with college bound athlete Brendan Johnson . Gage and Ron did very well shutting down Johnson, that game and did well many other games to help our running game to be as successful as it was . The experience of last season mistakes and accomplishments as a line , is why I say Scott had that year to mold some good talent together and will be a force to be dealt with if coach utilizes the strength of his line and runs off this youngmans butt . This young man as well as Rice will be playing at the next level .

Size is never a very good measuring stick for high school defensive lines imo. I know some of the best I've seen in the NKY area have been made up of big and small guys. The smaller guys with speed can sometimes be the best lineman on the team. I know in the past Cooper would have smaller guys as DE's who could get around the OT's and create all kind of havoc in the backfield.

 

I know one of the best D-Linemen in the area and plays for Cooper this coming season will be Marcus Watson who is only 235 lbs and their other stud D-Lineman is E Smith who weighs in at 210.
