  1. I think it is interesting that Trinity is winning with superior talent. Last year's State Championship team had exactly 3 Seniors that are playing College football this year and Donald Brooks who would have played but needed to work on his grades and plans on playing next year. I know for a fact that at least 6 St. X kids from last year are playing at Centre alone plus a walk on at U of L and a walk on at WKU. I know that Trinity's Senior class this year was a large contributor last year but really the talent gap is not as large as some might suggest. There was a much larger gap when Trinity had Hatcher, Quick, White, Dawkins and Travis Wright then there is this year and last. I contribute a lot of the success to Trinity's off season program especially in the summer. My son played on last year's team and his entire week up to about 3:00 was at Trinity for strength training, agility and football related stuff. I'm not sure X is doing the same. I think that is making a bigger difference than the talent gap IMHO.
  2. The inside story from Trinity is that they got kicked off the team at Trinity and did not leave due to financial hardship. That is coming from a inside source at Trinity. They used the financial hardship as the reason when things weren't going well at Trinity. Sure looks as though Trinity hasn't missed a beat without out them. They finally found a level of football where they could play.
  3. Trinity and Male had two classics last year. 3 OTs in two games and back and forth in each game. It's a shame that the 6A championship has to be played weeks before the final in Bowling Green. You would think the KHSAA would figure that out but they want the teams out in the state to have a change (Dixie and Meade) but as we found out last year those teams have little chance.
  4. I don't think Trinity's QB last year had a problem with the Male field/fans or weather. Takes a pretty touch hombre to overcome. Hopefully Jake will be able to do the same this year. I know he is a great competitor. Go Rocks.
  5. I think that the better team will depend on QB play. Whoever gets consistent play from the new QB will be the better team. They played two epic games last year and who's to say that the same won't happen again this year.
  6. I guess since there has not been any responses to this thread that St. X has nothing to improve on going into this season. Hmmm.
  7. Now that summer sessions have started and the Harper's are back, any news on the QB competition. Has someone stepped into the #1 spot or is it pretty equal reps.
  8. Did the Harpers leave because the competition got too tough or was there another reason. Seems interesting they would leave with all the talent coming back at Trinity next year and all the possibilities.
  9. It sure looked to me like Trinity didn't play with any passion outside of Ramser (16 points). They looked as though they really didn't care whether they won at all. Not much Senior leadership from what I could tell. Looks as though Ballard wanted it more the Trinity IMO.
  10. [quote=Skilld Hope it works out as well but the statistics don't give these Walk-Ons much chance. I think about 1-2% of these kids keep with football after their sophomore year. Most find it too much work without any gain. Hope these kids are going to the school that they want and the football is secondary since the percentages bear out that they will not be playing football after their Sophomore year.
  11. Where did that get them but exit from the playoffs in the second round. Manual continually has some of the best talent in the city of Louisville but can't get out of their own way when it comes to winning. Give me a State title all day (Trinity) and you can have all the D1 talent you want.
  12. Trinity might not have had the best individuals on the O and D line but they probably had toward the top in both when it comes to entire unit. The O line got much better as the season progressed and I think that QB Young only got sacked one time in the playoffs. Not bad considering how much Trinity passes the ball.
  13. Is he walking on or did he get a scholarship offer. Seems late in the game to be committing after signing day.
  14. There has been some talk that maybe Burns was transferring to Male. Has anybody heard that and if he did could he play next year.
