On the D line speed kills.

I don't think anyone had a defensive line unit like Manual, all 3 are division 1 quite possibly. 1 signed this year with WKU, one was a sophomore and one junior.

 

Tyron Horton signed with WKU

Derek Dorsey (Junior) just picked up offer from Louisville

Sean Cleasant (sophomore) will be offered by UK And Louisville by end of week.

 

Not a better DLine, PERIOD.

Where did that get them but exit from the playoffs in the second round. Manual continually has some of the best talent in the city of Louisville but can't get out of their own way when it comes to winning. Give me a State title all day (Trinity) and you can have all the D1 talent you want.

This thread is about best individual units though, not most successful teams. Sounds like Manuals is top shelf.

Manual's goal has always been to help athletes reach the next level and not solely winning championships. They have been extremely successful at this.

You mentioned that they struggled offensively. How was their O line? Trinity wasn't shabby on either side of the ball, but Manual definitely had the stronger D line. If their O line was similar quality they could be considered the best unit in state.
