Is it too early to ask if Mason County has a legitimate chance of winning state?

I'm not being a smart aleck but this question may be better served to be asked after they have won the 10th Region tournament. Crazy crazy things happen come tournament time. I'd be afraid to ask this question with one week left in the regular season.

Mason County is definitely looking good but IMO yes, it is too early to ask this question.

Yes perhaps you ask after they get thru district or maybe that tournament called 10th region.

Yeah but also Mason has already played Campbell in Campbell and won by 14 and played Montgomery in Montgomery and won both times by 16 & 9.

Its never too early to ask - but it may be too early to answer.

This is all true, but it's also true that Mason County beat Augusta by 17 last year & then lost to them in the District. Similarly, Campbell County lost to Brossart by 19 in the regular season, then beat them in the District & ended up winning the Region. Tournament time tends to be more unpredictable than the regular season IMO.

Having said that, I do believe Mason is a clear favorite to win the 10th & perhaps make a small run in the Sweet 16 should they get there. But I don't see them being a threat to cut down the nets in Rupp Arena.

Crazy things happen in late February and March.

Simple answer, yes

I like MC to win the 10th but they will have an extremely tough match up in the first round at state with either Newcath or Covcath...assuming that's who gets out of the 9th.

I'm with the others though, let's wait to see if they get out of the 10th first.

Ask Ballard, they were the favorites to the 7th last year (and state) beating Trinity twice during the regular season, they didn't even get out of the region.

I agree with everyone else, they are the favorites to win the 10th, and if you get to the Sweet 16, you have a chance, I just think that chance is very small for Mason County.

1st things first, let's win the 39th district and then the 10th region. THEN we can ask or answer this question.

Can they win the 39th district? Can they win the region? Questions that should be focused on right now.

Honestly, Dorian Henry wasn't what he is now, but he told me that he is confident about winjing first round of state SHOULD we get there.

Yes. Lets focus on District & Region first, then State.

The 10th Region got a tough draw with the 9th Region. IMO 3 teams could come out of the 9th; NCC, CovCath or Holmes could very easily be 9th Region champions. With Mason drawing St. Patrick and Augusta losing their best and most valuable player there's no doubt Mason County should win the 39th District this year. Now on to the Regional Tournament. We all know Mason County is the clear favorite to head to Lexington in March but I see a few possible road blocks in their way. A health Campbell County team thats hitting on all cylinders could come out of the 10th and with DJ Jenkins returning to Harrison County gives them a little bit of hope. Although MC has beaten CC by 14 and HC by 10, both on the road, teams seem to be clicking a little better in late February and throughout March. :thumb:
