Hit the Superfecta box. $24 bet. $630 payout. Not a bad day.

Well, I suppose if nothing else I may be able to get a refund after the fact?

If a horse is scratched in your exacta, tri, super bets you get a refund for any wagers that involve that horse. Say you had an $1 exacta box `1-2 and the 1 is scratched. You get your $2 refunded. If you $1 exacta box the 1-2-3 and the 1 is scratched your get a refund for any of the combinations involving the 1. So you still have 2-3 and 3-2 but you no longer have 1-2 and 2-1 and 1-3 and 3-1. So you will get $4 of your $6 bet refunded.

As for the Derby race itself................The quarter times 23:24, 47:34, 1:11:29, 1:36:45 say it all. You can't let 3 world class horses go that slow up front and expect to catch them.

Frosted ran a very good race to finish 4th into those slow fractions. The only other horse that was able to close was Materiality who did not get out of gate well at all and lost all chance right there.

Left at the gate on a inside post position, in a 18 horse field, your done. He was the speed horse that was to set the pace early, so much for that. I'll throw Materiality in on the gimmicks if he runs in the Preakness.

I won't bore everybody with my bets, came out about $18 to the good. Even if I would have lost money, a bad day at the track is better than a good day at home. :thumb:

Hit trifecta and exacta boxes. Only made about 20 bucks but off of them because I boxed 5 horses with them both but still won and it made the Derby even more exciting. I'll take it.

For personal confidence purposes, I'm going to call that a win when I trade that ticket in.

Stop soft-pedaling what you did. Enjoy the win.

I had the races pegged right but did not think American Pharaoh could do it. Covered 69 more feet on his run than did Dortmund. He got pushed out on the start and then had to make his move on the outside.

Announced a Beyer of 105 this morning for AP on that effort. Just a really impressive run.

Really would like to see Dortmund, Firing Line, and AP go at it again in the Preakness. Don't know if FL's connections have Pimlico in mind or not.

I had the horses with the "German names" - Dortmund and Danzig Moon.

At least I can take solace in the fact that Far Right and War Games finished 15th and 16th.

Hit the Trifecta with a Box. Two times in four years. Was a lot more fun in 2012 when it paid way more haha!

Race 5 Oaks. Sitting in Jahearme's box and it is still empty.

Nice to meet you TAC!

We are late arrivers every year. Too much pre-game at the house by the ladies, but you know how that goes.
