Coach Eviston obviously has a nice resume. Those close to him speak in the highest way possible. The talk around KY is Covington Catholic offered him too much money to pass up. I suppose the positives could go on and on and on.

 

With all that said, as a Highlands fan are you concerned, worried, or worse that the hiring of Coach Eviston is the beginning of the end of Highlands domination over CovCath?

 

This really is a serious question. In other words, if you are on the CovCath side of the fence you just hit a grand slam, but what is the feeling on Highlands side of the fence?

 

Who can be more objective here? CovCath fans or Highlands fans?

In the grand scheme of things, Highlands is Highlands. They have been, are and will be the team that other schools want to knock of their perch.

Highlands has an uncanny ability to singularly focus on Highlands. They have nothing to be concerned about. My guess is B Weinrich, similar to how Urban Meyer looks at the Jim Harbaugh hire, looks over at Eddie (assuming this is made official) and says "bring it on". Iron sharpens iron. If anything, the Highlands community will be invigorated by this hire.

Birds are 47-17 all time against Covington Catholic. Just shaking our little wings over here. Let's get real; coaching is very important but so is tradition and our kids leave it all on the field year in and year out. Good luck to the new leaders at Covington Catholic.

Eddie will need to get the Colonels preparing like the Birds. I have no doubt that he will. NewCath was in tremendous physical condition while he was there. This will make the games much more interesting. Remember, Eddie grew up in Ft. Thomas. He's not a Highlands fan, as my boys will tell you.

So it appears that whomever won the playoff game, ended up winning the state title. I seemed to remember that, but was not sure who won and in what years.
