Outside of Home, Where are you happiest???

Featured Replies

Just a thought that crossed my mind that I thought might be a good topic here in the Break Room.

I am presently in Miami, Florida, actually Hallandale Beach, about 20 miles north of downtown Miami.

I am a stones throw from the Gulfstream Park Racetrack Complex, a couple of more blocks to the Mardi Gras Dog Track, and a couple of miles from Dania Jai-Alai. I can look out of my (reasonably priced) hotel room window and see a branch of the Intercostal. The weather is warm, the area is loaded with great restaurants, and if I'd have brought my fishing gear along, could have fished at will.

I am gloriously happy here.

I am also happy in Counce, Tennessee when on fishing trips to Pickwick Lake, and am happy when in Spanish, Ontario, Canada and Saulte Ste Marie, Michigan.

How about you??? Maybe I'll learn some new spots to try.

Great American Ball Park. Selling beer at the Reds on a nice warm day really have given me true joy.

Fleming County. Buddy has cabin/house right on a "lake" that we down to for "Guy's Weekend" at least once a year. Country music, cornhole, grilling out, and beers. Great tradition we have.

The beach. Always was a beach rat.

If we are talking vacation spots, then I am happiest in St. Maarten. Mr. Cat and I are dying to go back. I'd love to live there even!

If we are talking just random places besides home, I would say being in the woods with Mr. Cat at our "fortress of solitude".

Keeneland, I really feel something special when I'm there. Seapines in Hilton Head, Mutt Lynch's in the Balboa Peninsula section of Newpot Beach. Haleiwa, a little town on the North Shore of Oahu.

It was pretty darn impossible to not be happy in St. Lucia, so I'll go with that.

Mustang, we would probably have fun on vacation together. I love Gulfstream, the dog track and Jai-Alai. I haven't been to Gulfstream in 25 years, my mother's side of the family had race horses growing up. We would visit Gulfstream, Caulder, and Hialeah in the winter, then Arlington Park in the summer.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip!

Closer to home my dad has a cabin in Fleming County on the licking river, if you want peaceful this is the place.

Honestly...I'm pretty darn happy wherever I am, most of the time.

Places don't make me happy, even home. The people I'm with, do. And sometimes I'm happy just being with myself, anywhere.

Wise words rat. And I wholeheartedly agree.

Basically, I'm not a people person, and certainly not a groupie. I prefer going places alone, (movies, vacations, Vegas, here in Miami) calling my own shots, going where I want to go, when I want to go there. I am sometimes most agitated when with a group being herded like livestock, or even with a group of my friends on a cruise. Basically, I'm selfish. I'm also single, which goes hand in hand.

I was stupid happy sitting in a natural hot spring at the base of Arenal volcano in Costa Rica.

Beautiful Norris Lake or Lake Cumberland.
