His hit song "Stay With Me" sounds too much like Petty's "I Won't Back Down", and he's agreed to pay royalties.

I can't stand Sam Smith & I love Tom Petty, but I don't really see (or rather, hear) the comparison.

 

There are other more blatantly obvious rip-off songs than this IMO.

I do hear likeness but not as much as the Ke$ha likeness I just heard in one of Taylor Swift's songs.

As far as this song goes, like you guys have said I've seen much worse with other songs. I'm a fan of both these songs.
