I won't lie — I've noticed the melodic similarities before, to the point that I interchange the words in my head.

Bingo. First few times I heard it I thought it was something released years ago that I just forgot about, until I completely picked up on the Petty similarities.

First time I ever heard the "Stay With Me" tune I thought that it sounded like "I Won't Back Down".

 

It's ironic I think that Tom Petty's song is called "I Won't Back Down", considering the present circumstances.

Speaking of artists ripping off other artists, here's another fairly current one.

 

Demi Lovato's "Really Don't Care" - The melody of the chorus sounds suspiciously a whole lot like Pat Benetar's "Shadows of the Night".

 

Speaking of the "Really Don't Care" song, I really don't care for it, and think that "artists" shouldn't be able to release tunes as annoying as this.

I respect that she writes her own songs. I would like to choke her for planting that stupid "Shake It Off" earworm in my head one too many times.

Multiple tweets went out from Swift's account this morning ... telling her 71 million plus followers to follow @lizzard and @veriuser -- both of whom claim to have ties to a group of hackers called the Lizard Squad. The messages were also posted on her Instagram account.

 

The Lizard Squad claims to have hacked major gaming systems -- such as Sony PlayStation and Xbox Live -- last year. They also claim to be behind Monday's Facebook and Instagram outage.

 

Now, the hackers say they're planning to post naked shots of Taylor.

Swift used her Tumblr page to inform fans she'd been hacked -- and Twitter has shut down the alleged hackers' accounts.

Can't say as I've ever heard of the guy.

 

Don't remember when he first came to my attention. He writes pop songs; simple as that.

 

Many of the biggest pop hits of the last decade-plus are from his pen: Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, N'Sync, Kelly Clarkson, Bon Jovi and more recently Pink, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift.

 

I'm mystified by the recipe that guy has for pop music. It's formulaic, sure... but despite the fact that the formula is out there for all to see, nobody else seems to know how to mix the ingredients that well.
