He signed the contract knowing full well the consequences. I think he got what he deserved. As for the front office, yes they are to blame as well. I said Kobe was partly responsible. It leads to an interesting question, who will be relevant sooner, the Knicks, Lakers or Celtics? The Celtics will be relevant much sooner than the others solely due to the fact that the front office is leagues more competent. Still it's weird to see all 3 struggling at the same time.

Without looking it up I don't think they have many top 15 picks.

Without looking it up I don't think they have many top 15 picks. I can agree with that. I think my opinion is just more in line with the other two front offices being a it more inept than the others. The Knicks have a shot with Jackson helping to run things but they are limited with some of their contracts. Getting rid of some players like J.R. Smith does help though. I also question how far the Knicks can get with Carmelo as their key player.

He's a perfect example of an athlete who stays in the media's good graces and in society's good graces so his athletic exploits are overblown and overhyped. As long as he played he was never one of the top 3 shortstops I would choose to have on my team.

I also think that he will feel an obligation to at least try to honor his contract. At the same time, if he has an difficulty with this recovery then I could see him reluctantly retiring.
