I got on scale about 6 weeks back and couldn't believe I had gained about 25 pounds since last April. I started working with kettle bells and lost 10lbs in 3 weeks.

Now the question. I like beer. I will watch what I eat during week and limit beer but on weekends I like my buds. I find now that I'm just basically maintaining. Is it possible to drink and lose weight or should I just expect to maintain? Thanks.

I don't know about the beer question but I would be interested in learning about your kettle bell routine.

I bought a workout routine a few years back called kettle worx. It works out all parts of body. Has 10-20 minute workouts. I'll do something like cardio in am before work and in evening I'll do resistance or arms, etc...

When I did it few years back I wasn't as heavy, just wanted more tone and trying to lose a little of the love handles.

Now I'm basically doing more cardio/fat burn rather than toning. Work with 20 and 30lb bell. Not going to bulk up with this routine but can definitely tell difference after 3-4 weeks.

Down officially 20 but that is with a long weekend in Vegas last weekend.

Low carb diet....mmmmmm bacon !

Walking 3 to 5 miles a day .......lifting some to tone, not build, and sauna 15 to 25 minutes.

Have only missed one day in the past 3.5 weeks and that is because I cut, split and hauled firewood for 5 hours that day.

Goal.......I have Mexico in 25 days and I don't want them rolling me back in the ocean........plus would like to be able to see the speedo if I wear it.....:puke:

I'm at the Y when the doors open every day(5AM) 6 days a week(7AM on Sat). I lead a cross training class 2 mornings a week from 5:45 to 6:30. Been doing the early workout since daughter was born 28 years ago tomorrow. Trying to lose 5 lbs, so I have going back in the evening to do another 3-4 miles. Daily workouts are just a part of my life. Here is an awesome inspiration, there is a gentleman in my class who gives all he has everyday and can do a Plank for 5 Minutes!

Planks are great but man do I hate doing them. 5 minutes is nuts and I read somewhere that Rob Gronkowski does them 10 minutes at a time. That's unreal if true. I've gotten over 2.5 minutes and hope to keep climbing.

Congrats to you on the early morning workout. Something I've never been able to do other than 10-15 minutes at my house. I'm jealous. Good luck with your 5. It always seems like it's tough to lose 5. If one lets himself go like I did this past year, the initial weight flys off but after that... My optimal weight is around 225 and I guarantee when I get down to about 232 or so, those last 7 will be the hardest.

Started back last week of Dec after a 3 month hiatus. I am down 6 lbs in 3 weeks. Counting and tracking calories on myfitnessapp. Working out 4-5 days a week. Feeling good but need to lose 10 more.

You know you will, Q!

I forgot to mention.... the the gentleman who does the plank for 5 minutes is 81 years old!

There's my Wednesday motivation!

I just came off working out for 11 consecutive days. Nothing too rigorous, the longest being for 2.5 hours in a one day. My biggest fear in moving here is I would be confined to a treadmill all winter due to living in Siberia. Least amount of snow in the area since 1947, without a single event being over 1". Not to mention the past two weeks have been nice, reaching the 40s on a couple of occasions so we've gotten the rare January thaw. And I took advantage by running 6 with some hill repeats last Monday, then on Saturday doing a descending 9 miler. You get worried staying on a treadmill for extended periods will slow your speed but I held up fine on the 9 miler. A few portions I had to slow up because of ice, but I still averaged a 7:54 with the last mile being at a 7:14. My biggest concern going forward is the bike portion in leading up to this next Ironman. The wind is a killer here and there are literally no hills besides a handful of overpasses. Flattest place on earth. This IM is brutal hilly. Right now I am doing 2-3 spin classes a week and trying to get on the bike trainer once a week.

Been pretty busy lately and not getting as much work in as I would like. Still lifting in the morning about 3 days a week and hitting CrossFit gym in the afternoon 3-4 days a week. I was pretty pumped this week. We did a benchmark workout at CrossFit and I hit a new PR. It was the workout named Grace which is 30 Clean & Jerks at 135lbs for time. Finished in 3:48. Last time I did it was in Sept of 2012 with a time of 5:45.

Crossfit Open starts in less than a month. I really need to improve my endurance of longer workouts. Trying to add in some longer runs and interval work in the mornings.

That's really cool. Maybe my dad is working out in the am and I didn't know!!

That sounds like a great improvement in time. :thumb:

It appears the shoulder has completely healed and there is no pain when benching.

The strength is slowly coming back.

I was able to get 300 up today.

A long ways to get back to where I was but it is a nice start.

Had a very good workout today, mostly triceps.

Also rode the bike for 33 minutes just so I could get some reading done.

This was only my 2nd day back on the bike. I had taken some time off from cardio.
