January 2, 201511 yr The SEC West did not hold up their end of the bargain. Arkansas got the only divisional win. A&M too.
January 2, 201511 yr So only one conference has a better bowl record than the SEC (pending the outcome of the title game) but the SEC stinks? OK. It had a down year this year. The top teams didn't perform in the important bowls. Usually they fare really well in them.
January 2, 201511 yr Author So only one conference has a better bowl record than the SEC (pending the outcome of the title game) but the SEC stinks? OK. Tennessee and Florida still play, as well. That doesn't change my point that the West went 2-4. They didn't hold up their end of the bargain.
January 2, 201511 yr Honestly the SEC was hurt once Urban left. It used to have the 2 best coaches in CFB.

January 2, 201511 yr I agree that the SEC is down. And in a down year they may end up with more bowl wins than any other conference. But who does Florida and UT play?
January 2, 201511 yr Author Honestly the SEC was hurt once Urban left. It used to have the 2 best coaches in CFB. Even more than the coaching is the QB play, IMO. Who are the NFL QB's that played major snaps in the SEC this year?
January 2, 201511 yr Author But who does Florida and UT play? Florida has East Carolina and Tennessee has Iowa.
January 2, 201511 yr But who does Florida and UT play? The bowls are proving the SEC to be who I thought they were this year - still the best conference because of depth, not because of great teams at the top.
January 2, 201511 yr The bowls are proving the SEC to be who I thought they were this year - still the best conference because of depth, not because of great teams at the top. True, I'll give you that

VOR, does the lack of wins the SEC has had versus ranked competition head to head this bowl season impact that opinion, at all? I guess I see loses to comparable teams like Ohio St., Wisconsin, Ga. Tech and TCU and I think that the SEC may not be as deep as I thought it was. Georgia and Mizzou beat quality teams, but the other loses make me think, maybe, the conference really lacked depth. I'm not trolling, I respect your opinion and curious what your response is to my thoughts.

But since everyone else does, I play along. So many things can happen in a football game. Just like tonight. If Sims doesn't throw that INT inside the 5 and Bama scores and wins the game, does the entire SEC's worth get proven? So one play determines a conference value? Auburn can't kick a field goal in OT so the SEC is bad? If Michigan St. doesn't pull that win out of their rear today, is the Big Ten terrible? I think the Big 12 is the conference with the best argument as being better than the SEC and they only have 1 bowl win so far. That doesn't automatically make me think they are way overrated as a conference. I think the SEC was down a little this year. They did not have any great team or teams, including Alabama. All these games were toss ups and so are the remaining games. But I think the SEC is still the best conference from top to bottom.
