January 1, 201511 yr All I know is that there are several ESPN along with some national radio show host, message board "so called" experts that are glad that they are off work today (if they are). ESPN may have to go off the air should OSU win tonight. I'm hoping that they do and if it happens, it will be fun enough on here alone.
January 1, 201511 yr Author Louisville and Miami are not good teams. Doesn't this counter your argument about how good the ACC is- obviously Georgia and South Carolina don't represent the best the SEC has to offer. Would those victories go toward the depth of the SEC argument that is at the heart of this debate?
January 1, 201511 yr How does this address my question? Is the same Florida State team from last title game playing in this bowl season? I didn't bring up the seven national champs from the SEC prior to last year because I feel that doesn't provide relevance and, frankly, is very difficult to argue against if you are objective. If your premise is titles define best conference, I can debate that. So if Alabama wins this year, does this mean that the SEC is the best- you can fill in with the Big 10 or Pac 12, for that matter? Bama shouldn't even be ranked #1

January 1, 201511 yr ...who is? With the SEC hate that we have seen on the board after the bowl games on New Year's Eve, I am curious as to whom folks would rank ahead of the SEC. What are folks conference rankings? Hate comes from all the garbage spewed about the SEC, and how head and should they are above everyone else. Still think they are the best conference, but it's simply not clear cut the way most want you to believe. Been that way for years, but they have had the single best team on many occasions, which has fueled the myth. Honestly it was garbage this year, save Bama and Georgia.
January 1, 201511 yr Author Bama shouldn't even be ranked #1 Again, how does this address my question?
January 1, 201511 yr Again, how does this address my question? If you are looking for educated dialogue from this cat, not gonna get it. He will never provide facts, just broad stroke statements with no intent to converse. Move on.
January 1, 201511 yr Author Bama got beat by Ole Miss. enough said! Why does this loss define the conference for you? How does it impact the SEC's winning record versus the ACC this bowl season?

I think the SEC is the best, but it is a lot closer than many realize. The conference has had greater depth in the past than it has this year.
January 1, 201511 yr Some things I agree with here. I think the SEC is the best, but it is a lot closer than many realize. The conference has had greater depth in the past than it has this year. Completely agree. I think they are two great teams, Bama and Georgia. Georgia just had an awful day vs Florida and lost, happens in rivalry games. Beyond that, think there was not a team that you could even claim as really good, and most of the conference is bad. Antiquated offenses have overhyped the defenses. Both Mississippi schools looked very slow today, so much for the SEC speed. My guess is both were just bored, didn't want to play in these New Year 6 games, since everyone knows SEC teams never lose a game they want to win.
January 1, 201511 yr Maybe the Pac 12? The SEC was not very strong, but college football overall was pretty weak this year IMO.

St.'s defense did them in on numerous occasions during the season, IMO. I think they are a great offensive team, but defense is lacking. Ole Miss was missing a couple of key guys against TCU. They gave everything they had versus Miss. St. in the Egg Bowl and couldn't muster that effort again versus a great TCU team. The Mississippi teams are both good teams, IMO. They just got beat by other good team in their bowl games. LSU is not a good team. Their QB play is terrible and has been all season. To lose to this version of Notre Dame is a bit embarrassing, IMO. Georgia is a good team, as is Auburn. The only great team in the SEC, IMO, is Bama.

January 1, 201511 yr The SEC is the best conference in football. Hands down, no question. After that, I'd say maybe the PAC 12. Then Big 10, Big 12 and ACC after that.
