January 1, 201511 yr I had enough of the so called building for the future from the reds most of my life growing up. Don't start completely over, build for the future while still trying to win now. That is one thing the Bengals management actually got right. I'm glad the reds aren't blowing the whole thing up. This years reds team reminds me of the 2011 Bengals team. Got rid of a few pieces but didn't blow the whole thing up. Addition by subtraction. If the team stays healthy, then I think they will have a successful year and make the playoffs this year.

January 1, 201511 yr Is Suarez good enough to demote Cozart? In his short stint in the majors he looked over matched but he did hit .278 combined minors with a good .362 OBP. What kind of defensive player is he? Looks like he made a lot of errors in the minors and had a .952 fielding % but it's hard to judge a minor leaguer on errors alone. He may be more suited to be a utility guy in the majors as he's played all over the field including all the outfield positions but he was the Tigers 8th rated prospect.

If you can't sign him to a team friendly deal before the season, you look to move him at the break (if he isn't hurt by then). Cueto, Chapman, Phillips and Votto should be on the block based on re-signability and contract terms. Throw in Cozart if someone will take him.
January 2, 201511 yr If the Reds didnt freaking resign Bailey I'd for sure sign Cueto. That Bailey deal is the worst deal of anyone. He hasnt proven anything except for 2 no-no's. They have to get rid of Cueto, it could really help this organization long term.

They have to get rid of Cueto, it could really help this organization long term. Again, Homer comes back healthy, teams will be knocking down Walt's door to get him, especially with his contract. Boggles my mind that people think it's a bad contract. It's a very good contract for the Reds.

January 2, 201511 yr I'm not unhappy with the trade, they're trying. HOWEVER, 185 K's last year, he's 37, injuries seem to find the Reds. If he plays 150 games I'll be shocked. If he hits higher than .250 I'll be shocked. He'll be the new target for all hysterical Reds fans.

Frazier? Meso? I think Byrd is your #4 hitter if he is healthy and performing. (BTW -- not thrilled about it, just think its too much for Frazier or Meso and Phillips prolly needs to bat 2nd.)

January 2, 201511 yr Because Phillips would never bat that low or because he will be traded? Because BP would throw a hissy-fit if they told him he's batting 7th. No way will the Reds get lucky enough to find someone dumb enough to take him off their hands. We can dream though.
