December 31, 201411 yr Anyone think BP would be okay hitting in the 7-hole? Yeah, me either... Wont matter he will be on the DL for half the year no doubt.
December 31, 201411 yr Wont matter he will be on the DL for half the year no doubt. He's averaged about 140 + games a year for about 9 years now. Least year was the only year out of those 9 under 140. So not sure how you come to that conclusion.
December 31, 201411 yr Anyone think BP would be okay hitting in the 7-hole? Yeah, me either... How about Votto 2nd?
December 31, 201411 yr How about Votto 2nd? What about it? I don't think Joey would have an issue with it.
December 31, 201411 yr How many strikeouts last year? http://lmgtfy.com/?q=How+many+strikeouts+did+Marlon+Byrd+have+last+year
December 31, 201411 yr What about it? I don't think Joey would have an issue with it. Are we talking about the same Joey Votto that had complained in the past when he was asked to bat somewhere other than 3rd? I know that Bryan Price batted him 2nd a few times late last year before they shut him down but he made no bones about not liking it previously.
December 31, 201411 yr C. Trent Rosecrans @ctrent Jocketty said all $ from Phillies is for 2014, so #Reds get Byrd for $4 mil this year and he needs 550 PA for vesting $8 mil option
December 31, 201411 yr Author @FOX19Joe: Walt Jocketty: Byrd is similar to Scott Rolen. Plays hard without a lot of hoopla. @FOX19
December 31, 201411 yr Nice! 185 in 154 is nice? Don't get me wrong I think this was a move they had to make for the short term but I have some concerns that they still have too many guys in this lineup that swing and miss an awful lot. I guess Byrd's OBP last year was better than most in the Red's lineup and his 25 HRs in Philly could equate to 30 in GASP. Overall I like the move because we only gave up a prospect and got money toward his remaining salary. In 2 years they may have someone ready in the minors to step in and replace him. Does anyone have a guess as to why his HR numbers jumped up so significantly the last 2 years? It appears that his HRs and Ks jumped at the same time so maybe he is swinging more for the fences than he did in the past. His OBP was also better before his HR numbers went up. Had it been a few years back we could have surmised he was supplementing which could account for more power.

December 31, 201411 yr Author @johnfayman: Jocketty said the #Red are still looking at fixing the bullpen, bench upgrades and pitching depth.
December 31, 201411 yr @johnfayman: Jocketty said the #Red are still looking at fixing the bullpen, bench upgrades and pitching depth. Any additions to that bench would be an upgrade! Outside of Negron, .271 and Pena, .253 they were awful. Santiago, .246 no power, Heisey, .222, (did hit some pinch hit HRs), and Hannahan, .188. I do think that Schumaker could bounce back as his .235 average was a disappointment.
