You are moving the goal posts. You said top kids want to play for teams that can get to the playoffs.

Schools like Texas that are among the elite of the elite in the history of college football. Those are the schools with the tradition and resources to compete for a Final 4 in the drop of a hat. No more chance than many others.

 

Kids picking UT may be picking for name recognition, support of the program, or the coach. They are not picking first and foremost for playoffs. Picking USC over Oregon would be the same aa picking UT over Bama.

 

They would pick South Carolina before Miami if playoffs were their main priority.

Harris only played 7 games... Hard to get any end of the year wards based on the season you had when you only play in 7 games. Which by the way the stats in those 7 games are ridiculous. I'm guessing you thought Shaun Alexander was a mediocre high school player.

Putting up BIG numbers vs Rockcastle, Whitley, South Laurel dont count very much for me since almost everyone else did too.

Im sure the level of teams Alexander played wasnt even close to the medicore teams Harris played against.

Let me go ahead and make my annual statement about High school kids and making announcements.

 

I hate the idea of multpile hats, stages, and trying to make a big scene. Social Media and ESPN have created this mentality.

I think Damien has really played out the process very well and unlike a lot of recruits has had a ton of fun with it. He's shown each school love to build the suspense but he's known for a while where he's going.
