Where does he commit?

Kentucky, no doubt in my mind.

If he was smart he would go to OSU/BAMA. We are talking football.

He's going to UK guys.

Rumor reports said he is leaning heavy towards Kentucky... Then Bama, then OSU, then Tennessee.

If you want to take anything out of his decision on where you THINK he may go, it would be the time of the announcement. He is doing the announcement at 1:30 or so in front of his school. Hopefully he doesnt have a cold heart and breaks everyones in the gym and picks OSU/Bama. That would be my guess as to why hes going to choose UK. Other than that, I'm just as lost as everyone else out there.

Tennessee is out of consideration..choosing between UK/OSU/Bama and supposedly UK and Bama are the only real options.

This announcement is open to the public. Hard for me to believe he invites the state in and chooses Bama

pressure to play @ home tends to be tough on these kids. Unfortunately they often bow to it & do it.

 

Only issue I see on it is this. If he goes to UK, I would think that he would be on the field almost immediately, take on 150-200 carries per year & get pretty beat up through 3-4 years of play, especially @ UK.

He could go to Alabama or OSU & not get on the field that much his 1st year & quite possibly his 2nd year, have a breakout Junior year as many of these guys do @ schools of this caliber & get that 150-200 carries that season & then have to make a decision on whether to stay for his senior year or make the jump to the pros. This way he comes out with a lot less miles on his body overall.

 

Nothing against the young man, but he was the work horse for Mad Southern during his time there & did get pretty beat up in some games, it is a contact sport.

I have concerns about his durability because of this very issue, especially at UK where the expectations will be so high.

I see your logic, but you are underselling one variable.

 

There is a good chance with Harris' freakish abilities that he might not need to play at UK but for 2 years.

 

Look at Alabama this year and even splitting carries Yeldon had 192 and Henry had 170 or so.

 

If Harris toted the rock 250 times over two years at UK it would still be less than toting it 175 times 3 years at Alabama.

 

 

Now the argument there is he would certainly have a better line protecting him at Bama and also a better chance of actually being on the other end of a lopsided score where he doesn't have to play in the 4th Quarter.

 

 

To me it boils down to this... if we are talking about the move that is best immediately for his chances of winning titles and personal awards and best helping his draft stock it is clearly Alabama. In essence if Harris is making a business decision to best help his chance to earn millions of dollars in the shortest timeframe.

 

If he is looking at it from a personal and emotional side it is UK. Your mom sees every home game. You have a chance to become a statewide hero. You immediately make a major impact and are the catalyst for a rebuilding job. There are benefits with this as well. You still play in the SEC and if you are as talented as you are hyped you will still get to the NFL. The difference is you basically have endorsement deals and are hired to speak at events the rest of your life inside the State of KY if you are successful and lead UK to wins.

 

The other dark side of this is there have been many a big time recruit go to Bama who succeeded...but there have also been many a big time recruit who fell off the face of the earth and even found themselves recruited over when they had the misfortune of an injury. You probably will not have to face that challenge at UK.

I understand you & see your argument & can even say I agree with you ATLCat, but I dont see the UK O-Line doing the hole opening, blocking, etc that the Alabama O-Line will for him.

 

I wish him well wherever he goes. Backfield players take a pounding anyway, I just think he will take more of one @ UK.

To me it boils down to what matters to Harris. I wouldn't be surprised either way and I wouldn't fault the kid either way.
