I see a lot of great players on this thread but at the same time I wonder if people see the difference between those and the ones that are on bad teams that are the only scoring option?

Not to take anything away from any kid !

In the 10th this year alone I've seen players put up big numbers.

Then turn around the next game and do almost nothing...

Lack of defense maybe or poor in game adjusting from coaching ?

Is there one team that has a 40 or 50 point scorer that will make it to state this year ?

Showing my age here....but the two highest scoring games I've seen in person were Austin Hill dropping 37 on Boone his senior year and then James Bolden twice dropping 37 on Newcath sophomore year amd Brossart junior year. Wasnt there for his 40 point game v Scott this year.

Also left at the end of the first quarter when Ohmer dropped 51 at Lloyd.

Cam Justice of Knott.

That's great...

Didn't think the list would be big...

Hats off to the kid !

I saw Jaron Brown score 40 for Bryan Station against Columbus (OH) Independence with Kenny Gregory who had a great career at Kansas. This was at the Lexington Catholic tournament before the new gym was built. Place was packed, standing three or four deep in the end zones, and crazy hot. Great game!

In December of 1979, I was covering the Oldham County Colonels for AM 1600 WSTL in the Ashland Invitational - my first radio play-by-play games. During a game I wasn't broadcasting, I watched Earvin "Magic" Stepp from the now-defunct Phelps HS hang 50 plus on the Ashland Tomcats. Ashland - who won the game and won the 16th region that year - tried everything. They doubled him as he came across mid-court. It was an even more amazing display because most of his made shots were jumpers, many beyond what would be the three point line today. Goodness knows what he would have tallied by today's rules. I've been covering HS basketball ever since and have yet to watch a shooting display that even comes close (regardless of the points scored).

Phelps is still a High School.

Going back a ways, but I believe George McGinnis put up 56 with 30 boards for the Hoosiers in a Kentucky-Indiana all-star game. Think I saw it on TV.

This season I saw Jeffersontown's Brandon Johnson pour in 43 points against Franklin County. He followed that performance up with a 37 point performance against Bullitt East and a 34 point performance against Central.

Just so happens that Tuesday night I was talking to my uncle, Elmond Hall, who played with Kelly Coleman. We were talking about Charley Osborne, the second leading scorer of all time in Kentucky. Elmond is telling me that Kelly could score ever how many he wanted to, and when he wanted to. He went on to say that Charley was a really good player but there was a guy that played over at Inez that was better than Charley was. He couldn't remember his name but said he was really tough. He went on to talk about Curry at Wheelwright, Risner at Garrett, and others that could fill it up. There was a common theme in those days. Coal camps that supported their local teams and they all had stars that could fill it up. To be quite honest I could sit and talk with him all day about the Kelly days. Elmond's grandson is now playing with another star, Cam Justice, so there is a lot of correlation between the 56 Wasps and the 15 Patriots.

Can't remember if it was his junior or senior year, or who it was against, but I saw Ronnie Dawn drop 50 in a game played at NewCath.

I saw Ronnie drop 54 in an All A Classic game in Dayton, it was against Beechwood I believe. It was our senior year 2001 and we were getting ready to play after them. He was puling from one step past half court. Most I've ever seen in person.
