I agree. I don't like the idea that the ref shouldn't call a foul, just because it's at the end of the game. Somebody who makes a dumb decision shouldn't get bailed out in that situation.

 

From the video shown it doesn't look like there was much contact, and I don't see a foul. It was a poor decision by the player to charge in like that when getting called for a foul was much more likely than anything productive coming from it. But, I think the foul call was a stretch in this situation.

 

On another note, that was a beautiful play. Had he caught the ball, landed, and then went up for a shot he likely scores.

Welcome to the 13th. Where some refs like to be the center of attention. It wouldn't have matter if it was 2 13th region teams they would have called it the same IMO. 33 % of them are horrible.

Hummm...kinda hard to tell but it appears to me little to no contact was made there, and the ref who called the foul (appeared to be the closet one to the camera) did not have the best angle to make that call. I have never refereed in a 3 man rotation...is that his area of responsibility? I would think that call would belong to the base line official who did not, it appeared raise his hand for a foul.

 

On the flip side of that, the Boyle kid did kind of put himself in a position for an official to possibly make a call, and make one he did. Got to be aware of the game situating as a player too.

Hard to tell if there was any contact. Either way I don't think you call a foul there. I've always been an advocate of the players determining the outcome in a tight game unless the foul is a brutal mugging. That's a no call in my opinion.

I think its awful that the foul was called. It would have been better to let overtime decide it but it looks like a foul to me and with .1 or .2 on the clock when it happened. Just my take.

 

I agree with ky playmaker on this. Also, I don't see how it could have been a flop by the Whitley County player because he had his back to Elkins and didn't see him charging in toward the basket. Can't be a flop if you didn't see the opposing player coming.

It's a foul and would be called at any point in the game so why not there?

how do you call that a foul?? The kid just flopped. And how does the ref determine how much time was on clock when so called foul was committed. No way you make that call

My take...Elkins had all ball and the other kid flopped. That is never a foul in that situation. Boyle County got worked by bad officiating.

The foul count was very even, Boyle had ball with score tied. I think if an official or officials were going to hose, cheat they would make it a 10-20 point game at end. I think Boyle coaches, players, fans keep thinks Whitley would go away but they never did!!!!!

Wrong. Boyle County played horribly and Whitley County dictated the game. Whitley County made Boyle County play their game and other than that last call the referees did a much better job on Sunday than they did on Saturday. The fact of the matter is that had Boyle County played the way they are capable of they would have won by 10+. Instead they let Whitley County dictate the entire game and paid the price by leaving the decision of the game in the referees hands. Whitley County did what they needed to do to win the game and I don't think anyone has said otherwise.

 

And yes, I was there.

I don't care what teams are playing,that is a no call. If there was a foul it had no impact on the play.The ref was not in position to make the call and the one that was didn't call anything.it is flat out wrong for that ref to call,knowing no time would be on the clock. The players need to fight it out in overtime! Ridiculous call.

Then the kid needs to hit the weights if he's going to go to the ground whenver someone puts their hand on the ball. That's all Elkins did. Minimal contact if any on the play. If anything that should have been out of bounds on Boyle County not a foul.

My take on the situation since I was the one who videotaped it.

 

The kid flopped. There was very little contact on the play and any contact that may have happened came after time had expired. Colton is 6'6", athletic with long arms and caused problems for Whitley County all day. To the point that when they attempted shots in the paint they pretty much hurled themselves into Colton praying for a foul call. Colton's body control and ability to stay out of foul trouble while being one of the best shot blockers in the state is uncanny. It's not the first time we've seen kids throw themselves on the floor in Colton's presence praying for a call. The kid got the call in this situation. Good flop.

Never. Considering the way the game was called yesterday that wasn't a foul at any other point in the game.
